I don't know if this is against the rules "or" if anyone would generally be opposed to the idea since we could in theory be the next person to create their part, but could you post a few screenshots just as an indication of how it's panning out so far(even if it's really early)? Thanks!

I do hope that there's some way the different parts are somehow tied together, at least, instead of totally random. For example a frame story about the devs working on a game. Also, I'm not quite clear- is the game being passed from person to person sight unseen until the end, or do we get to see the parts as they build?

I doubt this has been done with any of the previous community projects. Usually the public only gets to play it once the game is completed or canceled.

I see. . . I'd hoped the people in line would have some clue of what they were getting into before the tale landed in their lap, so they could prepare, but I guess that's not how it goes. . .

The first section of my entry is just a short intro thing set in the "Doug" multiverse. It's quite goofy and crude/mspaint etc but this doesn't have to be the overall aesthetic for the rest of the game! you can think of it as a light dream sequence or whatever if you want

The second part introduces the hubworld and the overall plot arc. You are an Imp in a mysterious place known only as "slime zone", your job is to trawl through the slime for valuable items to give to Slimefish, the ruler of slime zone. however you have found a "lost dimension" (the doug dimension...) buried in the slime, and retrieved a "slime key". the slimefish informs you there are 8 other keys (9 keys total + 1 wrapup segment = 10 entries) and asks you to retrieve them. his motives are unknown at this point! then i just added couple of areas and some flavour npcs etc. also for the record i included a suggestion that the dimensions can contain information about the slime world / other dimensions so there's that for anyone who wants it. basically it's a p short entry but who cares and i wanted to show people they could just mess around with ideas and not feel obligated to make custom battle system garbage.

gulp who wants to pick up the thread. don't get stuffy/pedantic about this guys because who cares!! just make something you think is neat

Wow awesome screenies! Let's make a rule to not use any rtp graphics..

Also, I'd happily pick this up but I'm still getting rm2k3 to work with linux so maybe not yet.

I think there's an advantage to working on it asap so you won't get too muich spoiled bout the development so far and there'd actually be a surprise factor in the end.

well, uprc said there'd be 10 entries. there can easily be more added if more people want to submit stuff though so i'm just using that as an estimate.

It looks like no one else is going to take the reigns so I would like to go ahead and do my part now after you, thecatamites, if that's okay. I'd love for this Chain Game to be a collaboration that puts GamingW in the spotlight and earns a lot of bragging rights, so I'm going to put forth a lot of effort and ideally I'll throw together something fun and interesting....Anyhow, I shouldn't spend my time ranting, just creating, and I'm ready for it.

EDIT: Looks like terrorantula beat me to the next spot, but I would like to follow his entry. I'll just use the time between now and then to plan everything out so I don't just wing it and not feel content with my work.

I really wanted to go next but I know realistically that this is an busy time of year and I don't have the hours to do it right now.

Say I managed to get it handed to me on opportunity 3 or 4, how many days would I be able to work on it for?

For me it will require some planning as a lot of my endeavours to be creative fail because of my uni work. I can plan around it and do more though.

I have literally one idea for a bad joke that will take up about 2 minutes of gameplay. Unless I think of more once I start, my section will jsut be that. How long is each part meant to be?

OK, mine will probably be WEIRDER than Dilbert, 'Cause I just came up with a pair of villains that want the Plot Coupon from the hero. They'll be free to be reused in later chapters should one wish.
