(Based on the movie by Harold P Warren)

Michael Downing and Margaret Peterson are the textbook examples of an All-American couple. Forced to postpone their wedding due to severe rainfalls, they seek shelter inside a lone Motel on the side of the road. Things take a swift turn for the worst when the couple is separated and thrown into an enormous labyrinth sitting underneath the motel. The twosome make it their mission to reunite with each other, teaming up with two mysterious and quirky individuals along the way. Will the young couple overcome the plethora of deadly demons and dangerous traps to reach other other in time, or will a much greater evil expose the cracks in their relationship to claim Margaret as his own? .

I didn't read the book, but the game got me. The Sacred numbers is quite hard puzzle for me. But I got all of them. The Xib is quite better to defend then Michael.

Glad you're enjoying the game!

Admittedly, while the game uses all of the same characters from the movie, it only draws a few inspirations/ideas from the film's actual plot... but that's largely because the movie didn't really have one, so I had to fill in the blanks. =P

If you wanted to, but you can also play as a new character and still have all of your old equipment/items.

It is, more or less. It's not a scene-by-scene adaptation, but it borrows a lot of themes and such introduced in the movie, and attempts to expand on them a little.

This certainly sounds interesting. Currently on my first playthrough as Michael (why does everybody else seem to start with Marge?) and I ran into a pretty weird bug:

One of these two is not supposed to be Michael. I'm not completely sure if I actually got the scene meant for Michael at this point, it had him yelling at Marge and all, and it kind of didn't seem to fit.

Okay, that definitely wasn't supposed to happen. Haha.

You fought the boss and decided to go back to save (which is what anyone would have done), but a switch went off prematurely. The way to work around that bug is to reload your game, fight the boss, but DON'T immediately run back to save. Walk down the hall, view the event, and then go back to save if you must. Margaret shouldn't have this problem.

I apologize for that! If you don't have any other save file (if you saved over your file with the buggy version), I'll give you one.

Is there a problem with seeing that scene? I'm at the final boss (who really loves to do just 5 points more damage than I can currently take) and didn't run into any problems. I have a backup save just before seeing that scene, but no way to avoid it. If the only problem caused by it is a swapped character graphic, I don't mind, I can always get the correct version of that scene when I try to unlock the bonus stuff.

And yeah, given that your random encounters have the tendency to brutally murderize me several times before I figure out how to deal with them, I saved right after the boss fight.

That scene was supposed to be for Margaret only. Michael had a different one. =P

What level are on you at the final boss? If you're at level 25 or above, you should be fine. Which form are you having trouble with? I can give you step-by-step help if you want.

As far as the encounters go, the monsters definitely don't play around, which means you can't either. One-hit-kill those fuckers/ Some monsters (like in the catacombs) like to use status spells against you, which means you have to wear equipment that counters that (usually found at the very beginning of each section). Margaret has a slightly advantage in that respect since some of her skills can hit multiple targets early on in the game, she's faster than Mike, and is less vulnerable to status-abnormalities.

Wi th Michael, youbasically just have to figure out which weapon to use in which situation. Sword-skills are the strongest set in the game, but they only inflict regular damage. Thrust/Spear-skills are physically 'weaker', but they inflict status abnormalities as well as lower your enemy's attributes (like defense, attack power, etc), which really come in handle during certain fights. Axes are more or less above average in strength, but they can heal your Life points, which basically means you won't really have to use Life-restoring items as often thus allowing you to 'save' turns. The Hammer hits all targets and inflict paralysis, so you just have to figure out which weapon works best for your style of gameplay.

I was level 25 and the main problem was that Key of Solomon took off more than half of my HP, so attacking was out of the question. I just levelled a bit and beat him at 30.

Margaret really is way easier to play as. I've probably used less than ten items and died maybe three times and I stopped playing in the last dungeon, because I didn't feel like hitting the boss again.

I'm not sure if this is the best or worst idea for a game ever. I'll have to try it out.

I think I found the result of me seeing the wrong scene. :-( After completing the game with Margaret, I didn't get the Gold Medal, only the Platinum Medal (Michael's wasn't in my inventory for some reason), so no Bazooka. I figured I'd just run Michael through the game a second time and see his scene now, but Debbie tried to walk through him after the fight with the two entities.

Does your offer with the save file still stand?

That's no good. Other people have gotten it, so it worked for others.... Hmm.

But a las, here you go!

That's the normal playthru though, so hopefully the platinum medal with carry over this time.
