are you talking socially or politically conservative? Socially, yes Koreans are a bit conservative, you basically have to talk to anyone older than you in a completely different (more respectful)way. It's also not considered normal or OK to be openly homosexual in Korea. Politically, you kinda have to understand that the term "conservative" means different things in different places and lol if you think corporate subsidies somehow fall outside of the realm of being "conservative".
Yeah, the respect for elders is HUGE here.  For a while, KATUSAs (Korean soldiers working for the US Army) kept bowing to me whenever I walked by.  I thought they were respecting me because I'm a specialist (which didn't make any sense), but it turned out they were doing it because I'm older than them.  I'm not really around KATUSAs anymore, but when I am, they give me a lot of respect.
