I think it's just because one or two nutcases did come up with it but thanks to the way social networks went, tons of idiots went "OH MAN I NEVER THOUGHT OF THAT YOU'RE RIGHT!!!" and it spread like wildfire.

idk i think it's because a lot of people think of themselves as a sitcom character with a "snarky" "irreverent" sense of humour and those kinds of reactions aren't the result of conscious thought so much as a generic reflex action to SOMETHING SOMETHING JAPAN [recall ][/recall]. if there really is a radiation leak then there will probably be a bunch of posts talking about somethingsomething hiroshima somethingsomething tentacleporn. internet catechism.
 
sometimes i overhear people talking in college and everything they say sounds like they're quoting a scene from scrubs or something just because everything about their tone of voice and choice of words sounds like they're selfconsciously playing the role of 'wacky guy' 'deadpan guy' 'un-pc guy' etc. i dont like noticing this because i dont want to sit around making glib judgements of UGH LOOKIT ALL THESE FAKES or whatever the fuck but it does seem noticeable to me.

it's not just you, i see it all the time and those people make me feel really discouraged. it's only a matter of time until we pass from formal to real subsumption under domination of the spectacle and we all get to choose from a set of pre-approved characters to be programmed as while we run fullspeed toward singularity
