there's likely a plug on the motherboard labeled PWR LED, unhook it. It's probably better to just not leave your desktop running all night though.

do you at least make it go into hibernate/sleep? Seems like a silly waste of electricity IMO

i don't download as much shit as i used to but i used to always keep my computer on because i'd be torrenting things and my internet was shit rural kentucky internet so it took quite a while.

but mine does go to sleep nowadays so i guess it doesn't matter really

most people who leave their computers on 24/7 have no good reason to and just want to play at sysadminz

To answer some of the previous questions, I leave my PC on overnight for torrenting. There is a bandwidth limit on torrent transfers during the day that gets lifted at 2:00am-7:00am, so I leave my PC on for prime downloading time!

I also tend to leave my laptop on for torrenting purposes, but also sometimes its just because i am too damn lazy to close it when I go to bed.  Also sometimes I leave it on to play through a short playlist of music to help me fall asleep.    it doesn't really follow a pattern, more just dependant on what exactly I feel like doing before I go to bed.

I do. Just not here, too much to transport at the end of term.
