This is the Troubadours First Album since the Change of GamingW to the new name of SaltW, and to Celebrate we wanted to kick off things with Band Spankin New!
Its an album where the only rule for your submission was it had to be over 1minute in length. 8 tracks made it to the table. 8 tracks where then compiled and arranged by me, and with some starting help from Geodude getting this in the right direction for the Middle of January till the End of February, This Album is a historic release to Moniker the name change and proving we can still kick it!

Satellite by Biggles : I didnt really like it at first but its grown on me since you sent it, I like a certain glitchy sound you make in the song and it intrigues me as im not familiar with this style of music.

Untitled by Mince Wobbley : Its as if your song was made to follow the prior, I really like the melody you had in this it was catchy!

Whores' Father by Imaginary Friends : So glad to have this track on the album, I was afraid there wouldn't be any band recordings, I think SaltW troubs is a great way to have ulterior motives to Band jamming. Anyway Rockin track, the bassline sounds familiar but then again its a bass line.

Feel that Feel by Puppet Master : that Ahhhhhhh in the beginning was how I was feeling the day you sent me the track so It made my day and I had some time to let your track grow on me a bit whilst I was listening to the submissions to plan a play list arrangement. Submit more music!!

Salty Fanfare by Aer(me!) : ~~your awesome! your wicked! omgwfflz you have the best track yet!~~ Seriously not gonna actually crit myself haha. I'm happy with what I made, I wish I had time to make a song with a vocal track too but this is still pleasing to me.

Blues Accapella by Farren : Despite you being critical of yourself, I enjoyed your track, if you had a bit better a mic and a pop-screen, you could do some deadly tunes with that voice. You sent it to me in a mono track I stereoized it to get a bit more volume on your semi feint mono volume. Learn to make some instrumentals and crack some tunes bro!

Pop.n.Lck.it9 by PoizenJam : I'm so glad that I got you inspired to do this. Its a great track and only a tap of your potential. Seriously, start producing an ep after the Exams and shiz. Your a bit of a perfectionist though, while your mastering it 5 times made the mastering fairly well near perfect, you didnt need to do it 5 times! haha. Glad you went with other words than the bounce sample.

Snow me all night long by Imaginary Friends : Wasn't gonna include this cause its no longer Xmas, but well there's still a SHIT-TON of snow here where I live and feels like winter so I allowed it! That and I said the only rule was that it had to be over a minute... which it is. Like the other track, So happy to have a band recording track there some of my favs to get on an indy album. This song is a little deranged though haha I tend to enjoy it a lot more when stoned as it makes me laugh a bit.

Satellite & Untitled: I feel like these songs were made for each other. As if one is kind of the intro to some retro Genesis game and the other is a menu screen or splash screen from the game. That's not an insult, actually quite a good compliment. I wanted to hear more of each track, with a deeper progression and an even more filled out

Whores Father & Snow Me All Night Long: Dig these tracks. Like the slightly humourous edge to the latter. So far, these tracks have got a lot of listens from me and my girlfriend

Feel that Feel: Love this song, but feels slightly unpolished. I like the indy feel of the lyrics, but feel this song could benefit greatly from some post processing and some editing. On the verge of something really catchy and great though.

Salty Fanfare: You need to test your music on more speakers, if at all possible. I love the song. That guitar riff is catchy as all hell. Also, I'm glad my suggestions for velocity and strum randomization panned out for you. However, the bass' low end is a little crazy. I can't play it in my car or on my computer without equalizing the bass down.

Blues Acapella: Like it. you've got some freestyling skill. Would love a low down bass guitar played o this. A pop screen would also have propped the quality of this song up an incredible amount.

POP.N.LCK.IT9: I'm my own worst critic. Song needed a much better build up before the last beat drop. A nice bit more variation too, could have made it better.

yeah I actually tried to get a pop screen when I was at home before (thats one of those spongy cover thingies for a mic right?) I don't think they had one. I'm gonna get one asap and a new harmonica set in a couple keys and I'm gonna sit down and try to learn some blues licks and see what I can do later.

I'm only learning three folk covers right now but I think I'm almost good enough to play them out. I wish we could do another collab project like that one me ryan and jmickle were gonna do but it failed miserably. I think we finished one blues cover that actually sounded pretty good but never finished it up.

I want to hear the rest of the album though I bet its pretty good. Shame it doesn't seem as active as it once was.

I'm pretty sure a pop screen is one of those circular things with a sort of netting that goes in front of the mic, not the spongy thing that goes on the mic itself.

Anyway I will check this album out later!!!

maybe I should get both then? I just got the bare mic, you just clip the pop screen onto it right? Yeah I should prolly get one.

I got about six weeks when I get back and hopefully if I stick to what I wanna do I'll just be training working out and boxing and just learning and playing guitar. I said that last time though and I played guitar a bit but stayed high most the time and didn't live in a place I could set a heavy bag up. Now I'm at my moms though and I'm gonna drive her fucking nuts.

foam covers are basically spit guards to keep mic clean and help with popping a bit, pop screens are the circular things that catch the harshness of your P's n Q's and keeps the blowing air from hitting the mic. and like Poizen said, a pop screen would have bounced that track to an amazing quality!

Like to see your crits on the album too Farren, and Vell !

Totally forgot that this was released, I will check it out when I have some more time.

And thanks for what you said about my song, you guys. I really appreciate it. I recorded that on a USB interface I just got and I still hadn't really gotten the hang of it, so that's why it was a little rough sounding.

Funny trivia: the lyrics (if you actually manage to understand what's being sung) in the whore song were mostly based off of what my friend said while he did the solo (example: "shit! I just puked in my mouth." and "I get a hard dick from this shit"). Also, it's more of a hangover song than a band jam >_>

Back online from moving house, internet failure etc. Listened to this with my new flatmates yesterday. It was agreed that the album was overall pretty good, but different people liked different bits. I didn't realise that Farren meant blues when he said he was gonna freestyle but I think it turned out quite well, there were only a couple of times where syllables felt out of place, and it wasn't hugely noticeable. Flatties are big into electronic music and seemed to like Pop.n.Lck.iT9 based on foot tapping. Disagreed over Puppet Master's song. One thought it was great, I felt that the vocals sounded off, mixed too low or bad mic (sounds like my mic) or something. Like the way it starts and the everything else is solid though, it's the one I'd most like to hear live. I loved both Imaginary Friends songs and they would be my favourites if I didn't hate the lyrics on account of them being largely about penises. I'm unclear as to who makes up Imaginary friends though. Salty Fanfare is about the best thing I have heard from Aer although the end cuts out kind of suddenly. It's like a futuretech sea shanty. An old man strums his laptop on a rickety pier in the early morning. Untitled is pretty chilled out, I like the sounds in it. I'd like to see more happening structurally though.

As for my own song, what I was trying to do was play with the idea of progressing from a relatively unstructured/noisy opening based on electronic sounds to a more structured sample based end. The way I see the title imagery in my mind, the opening is the satelite beeping out in space routing infofacts, stars in the background and then as the song goes on it reenters the atmosphere and starts to burn up. At the end, the last little bit burns away above the earth below and somehow it seems more at peace. I'm fairly happy with it, although in terms of exploring the ideas I wanted to there's clearly room for improvement.
