i'd expect that if something like that does transpire, it will make a lot of sense to provide public access to it. providing it's widely implemented and nobody understands how it works, it could constitute a great marketing tool. having your fingers in the social realities of millions of people is the best superpower of all. i guess it depends what you consider 'transhuman' though. i think the way people are with their wikipedias these days is on some cyborg shit anyway. it ain't all bad.

I never felt so empty after watching a documentary as I did after seeing American, The Bill Hicks Story.

I've always admired the guy. His brand of observation wasn't for everyone but it always struck a cord with me. After finding out more about him and watching his life unfold as his talents elevated him to new heights... half way through his story it ends. It just ends.

- Home - About the planet and it's exploitation. Beautifully shot, will make you wonder if it isn't CGI.
- Ocean Deep. Deep sea with David Attinborough.
- Earthlings. The way we treat animals.
- Koyaanisqatsi. Different aspects of our planet shot beautifully and scored by Philip Glass (a must watch)
- Waltz with Bashir. Technically a docu, but edited as a film.
- Catfish. I heard it was staged, but its a shocker.
- The Fog of War. When waging war is exactly the same as running a commercial company.

Today im gonna watch Reindeerspotting. Finnish docu about some dudes that use their Wealth fare money to go around Europe and do drugs. It toke awhile before english subs got released.

Preview of Earthlings: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_fu4mzBsMTQ&feature=player_detailpage#t=195s  (it gets worse than this tho)

I know these have already been mentioned but I'm just going to throw in my support for Exit Through the Gift Shop, F for Fake, and Catfish.  Catfish is probably fake but then again so are Exit Through the Gift Shop and F for Fake which I think is why I like them a lot?  Like with most documentaries there is always the issue of how much of what we're seeing is genuine or edited to reflect the filmmaker's personal bias, which is why I'm often uncomfortable watching a lot of documentaries (see: michael moore, the worst), but with these movies that is kind of the point and I think they say something greater about documentaries in general (basically THEY ARE ALL LIES, go back to watching nicholas sparks movies which settle for nothing less than the truth)

I watched The Dungeon Masters on Hulu a couple of days ago. It was mainly about the lives of people that play D&D, but of course they scrapped the bottom of the barrel when they chose who to interview.

One documentary I recently watched was pretty interesting. It's French - "La Jeu de la Mort" but has been translated into English - "The Game of Death." It's basically about a group of French researchers putting subjects through an upgraded Milgram Experiment - a famous psychology experiment that tested how far people would when obeying authority figures - in a gameshow format to see how the results would be affected. Interesting stuff.

Last documentaries I saw:

-Presumed Guilty (Presunto Culpable): Excellent documentary about the flaws in the judicial system in Mexico. The documentary follows Toño's case, a flea market computer technician who is randomly picked by the police and charged guilty of murder of a man he doesn't  knows.

-Hot Coffee: A 'fair rendition' about the facts of the Hot Coffee case (and some other cases) that have happened in the US.

-Waiting for Superman: A documentary that analyzes the failures in the US public education system. Heavility criticized though, as its been called inaccurate and flawed. Still worth the watch.

-The Corporation: A documentary that describes the horrors of corporations, mainly North American, comparing them as "human beings".
"I think EVERYONE here on GW has to have cranked one out over Pulits or Trujin before. How's it feel, guys?" - Christophomicus <--Feels great, btw.

yeah the corporation is a good one I watched that in highschool and then again on my own.

Its like a case study one how corporations operate and a comparison on the behavior of a corporate entity (which legally is considered to have the same rights as a person) with the behavior of an actual person. If you haven't already figured it out corporations make terrible people.

I think it would be a little dated though with anti conspiracy laws and lobbying laws or whatever we've supposedly been working on the past ten years or so.
