I just saw Meek's Cutoff. I went to a cinema screen, planted my tookis in a seat and viewed it.
I liked it a lot. I like Michelle Williams a lot - she's in pretty good movies, but she is usually one of the best things about it. I like the director, Kelly Reichardt, too. She directed Wendy and Lucy. I don't know how many people around here saw that, but it's a really good movie. Both that and Meek's Cutoff are slow and not a lot happens but they have stuff to say and are just an intense kind of experience.
It's about a group of settlers looking for a place to stay in Oregon in 1845 who get really lost from the start, by the way. It'll probably remind you of There Will Be Blood, but only aesthetically. The soundtrack is a pretty similar style.
Meek's Cutoff is out in UK cinemas just now, I think it's been out elsewhere already.
