I have attempted to design a website using Photoshop. Does it look any good?

Add a little lateral padding to those containers.

padding-left: 15px;
padding-right: 15px;

Maybe more.

Personally I would ditch the gradients and go with solid colours for your header and buttons but that's just my opinion.

It looks okay but the edges are what threw me at first. I think with some padding adjustments it should be fine.

Would you mind taking a screenshot of how it appears on your computer? I'm thinking something might be weird with my web browser that is making it not display as it should.

I know why. You haven't declared your doctype:

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">

Whack that up top.

I'd definitely ditch the gradients for sure but otherwise it's p. nice.  Clean and simple is always nice in a website :D

Also it might just be my personal preference but I'd make the shadows on the text up top the same as the shadows everywhere else (directly to the right).

images look a bit fuzzy to me from work. (comparatively to, say, the picture in Vellfire's signature.) also i find the text hard to read on that background. possibly because i have quite a bright monitor, which is a weird model so it might have a funny colour space. otherwise it's aight.

Great start. I like the colors! Like everyone else said,  sharpen up the images, add some padding to the divs and ditch (or reduce the intensity of) the gradients
what's updog?
