http://www.zero-books.net/book/detail/1614/Imaginary-Games not out yet and no idea what it'll be like but Zero Books have published a
whole bunch of books that I like and a ton more that I've been meaning to check out so hearing they're putting out a book of gamechat is kind of interesting to me anyway (even if it does lead with EBERT EBERT EBORT nooo).
edit honestly a big part of why most gamechat blogs are kind of boring is that they're written by people who basically
like games and so they spend all their time talking about Fun and Immersion and How Top Make Good Design Like Marios and Emotional Experiences and justifying everything so given the publisher i'm kind of hoping this turns out to be some kind of stern brechtian anarchocrust ideologue person who is DEEPLY UNCOMFORTABLE with whatever it is games represent and has enough distance towards them to be interesting. i kind of doubt this will happen and there's no sense of this from the writer's blog but oh well.
edit2 i always feel tremendously churlish from taking lazy swipes at gameschat so i'll just say there's really no problems with the field that couldn't be cleared up by some groups of FURIOUS french people spraying out cheaply printed manifestos calling for the ritual beheading of shigeru miyamoto
