This is still going on?
Batistaberg, you're black? It's always weird when a member of a minority that many are prejudiced towards suddenly comes out with prejudices of their own. You'd genuinely think you'd be a little more...well I was going to say "open-minded", but I think that's a bit of an understatement so let's say "less douchey" instead.
Genuinely statistics don't prove competence by any means. The UK statistics for education show Afro-Carribean boys massively under performing on average at Key Stage 2 and 3; does this mean that they're naturally underperforming due to inferiority? Of course not. All it proves is that there are FACTORS stopping them performing. Do we then immediately demand that those factors are natural inferiority? Well yeah, if we're racists. If we're not, we'd actually look at those factors and try to work out WHY, as opposed to just saying "Man dem dark'ns ain't good at booklearnin'!"
I use the analogy to mirror what you're saying about women in lead roles in society. The fact that women underperform in terms of getting paid as much and in promotional terms does NOT mean that they're inferior in any way. It means there are FACTORS stopping them from achieving everything they could. Factors like, you know, society being run by men and biased/weighted towards men, especially in the better and more important professions? That's a pretty big factor I'd think.
Or, of course, we can just put it all down to the fact that men are better than women, sure. Just like how white people are better than black people, abled people are better than disabled people, straight people are better than gay people, and rich people are better than poor people. I mean, the statistics back this up right? How many black/disabled/gay/poor presidents do we have in the West compared to straight white able-bodied men?
Statistics can be a clue in working things out, but all they prove is that there's an issue in the first place, nothing more.
