here's the deal, the server is now running 1.9 prerelease #4 with a fresh map, i'll be taking occasional backups just in case, and we'll evaluate when the time comes whether or not it's worth starting a new world when the final release comes.

When you said that, I had to go and check if mine was still there.

If you have a nether portal, you are free to use my enchanting table for the time being since it's set up right beside my over-world portal.

If you don't have a portal yet, I can craft some more buckets and help build you one. I know how to get them to match even in close overworld proximity, as long as I have enough obsidian to build the corresponding nether portal. (But I'm down to my last three diamonds, and I seem to have terrible luck with diamond pickaxes since I lost two in a row less than 10 minutes after enchanting them. My luck at getting diamonds seems to be inversely proportional to my luck at keeping them)

I would just give you my table, (all it's done is brought me terrible luck) but I have little to zero confidence at being able to dismantle it without destroying it. (I don't know what happened to yours, but just so there is nothing between us, all I took was a bit of gunpowder. Once I start getting more slimeballs *I know they are spawning somewhere in that chasm under my ranch*, I'll let you have at the first helping at them.

are you saying you took gunpowder from my base? I don't care about that as long as it's not a common thing

enchantment tables break with one hit, making them very easy to accidentally destroy, and they don't drop a block unless you use a pickaxe

Well now that I can fast-travel to your base, I'll only grab the mob swag I see drop from your trap when you aren't logged on to grab it yourself.

Just be careful my table doesn't break also. I used up my last diamonds to get the obsidian to make that portal.

I fell into the spawner and a creeper exploded. I felt pretty bad about it but there was no way I could fix it. feel free to take whatever you want from my base!

haha don't worry, that little water stream at the bottom was a very very poorly executed plan.

the idea was for it to keep stuff alive with one hit worth of damage left and then funnel them into one spot for exp farming.

creepers are more annoying than fun or challenging, especially now that they can't be killed with only two diamond sword hits. really there's no reason they shouldn't be killed with one hit, because the "appeal" is supposedly having them sneak up on you and explode. having to hit them multiple times with a sword only to have them blow up anyway is singularly frustrating.

maybe it'd be best to seal off that chasm except for one entrance

but i mean, everything landing in my pit should die from fall damage :/

Is your spawn pit the one that has the ladder going both up and down?

Because the last time I was there, a creeper landed on the ladder instead and failed to die from falling. (mobs must be capable of moving short distances while falling, but will only do so if they have something to follow.)

hopefully the worst bugs will be fixed soon, mainly the memory leak which causes problems on my computer and might be crashing the server every hour or so. I think all the mojang employees are on vacation now tho. it's a pretty bad official release but that's really no surprise! here's some minedrama from the creator that I find kind of funny, and obviously I agree with the quote in the third tweet

Okay I think I need to put my input here as well. I've been playing MC SSP and I visit their forums as much as I visit SW . I'm also  huge fan of Yogscast their vids are great I actually downloaded all 3 seasons of their shadows of israphel adventures. I was surprised when Notch first tweeted about people he said they were not working anymore with, supposedly because of them f-bombing children on minecon. At first it wasn't quite sure who it was and the mc community was left speculating who notch was talking about then af ew hours later he said it was yogscast (as most of the community already guessed).

Right now the community is pretty torn with all kinds of debates and speculations, some even think this is yogs and notch trolling them. Yogscast haven't made n official statement as they are still on their way home and said that they'd make a vlog issuing their reply to notch' statements once they get back home.

Now my initial reaction to this was that notch handled it too unprofessionally. Whether the yogscast was at fault or not tweeting about it without first handling it privately with th other party is kind of immature and he should know that will cause some friction towards his followers. I think he wants it anyway, he just made a drama out of it. I can't think why he'd be too angry t yogs to twit all those comments and the community was then left waiting for yogs' side of the story.

I'll be following the story more and maybe post updates on this thread for those interested.

yogscast is surprisingly good, but only in consideration of the majority of narrated gameplay youtubes, which are ultra boring and generally terrible

did you make that image or is this really that big of a thing? I should have known better than to combine the words mine and drama, it's probably almost a meme by now. I dunno if anyone else here has ever watched yogscast or knows what we're talking about. I'm not really in on the drama and I don't care about it, I just saw the tweets and posted them here because I found them funny, and I really liked that notch published to virtually all minecraft fans that someone theoretically important thinks mojang is "a bunch of nerds who don't know how to run a company". thanks for getting the word out there, I've been trying for months

I agree with you, notch did handle it particularly unprofessionally, but again, that's no surprise. for a long time I've been wondering if there's actually something wrong with him or if he just likes to portray himself with a childish, naive net persona.

and he probably blew it out of proportion too. "dropping f-bombs to kids", undoubtedly, refers to the mentioned signing incident, which was less directed at the kid and more towards notch and mojang. and don't doubt for a second that we'll see a long, awful rant about this with profuse apologies and dimwitted statements on notch's tumblr soon

mojang really deserves to go belly up, but that will never happen because of how much money they made. they're the dubai of games I'm telling you
