I haven't played Soldat for probably four years now, but I've had a few thoughts about it on and off over the past few weeks, mostly about how great #gwsoldat was back in the day and how much fun the game was to play with you folks. Those were really good times. It was even mentioned at RMN recently that the old GWers were "crazy-good" at Soldat, so someone out there also remembers the good times.
 
Obviously #gwsoldat and the servers it ran off aren't around anymore (unless I am horribly oblivious to something) and a good chunk of the people who made #gwsoldat so much fun aren't here nowadays. Are there any other former #gwsoldat regulars still lurking around here who think it might be fun to wipe that layer of thick dust off of the game and give it another spin, if even only for one day?
 
Mostly I just think it could be fun to partake in something we used to do around here back in the day.

I 100% agree. I've already given up on getting King Arthur's Gold to load up on my system, and I have been in a rut playing TF2 so much.


I had way more fun with Soldat, and even though I was never as good as some of you guys, I am 99% certain that it was playing with you guys that made me as good at playing that game as I was.

I'd play you if I ever saw you online. I haven't played in a while though and seeing as I was already a mediocre player at best, I'll probably be struggling to hit you with an M79.

I'm in Seattle now which is GMT -7 I believe. I get home at 4 PM most work days so that's when I'll be most free for Soldat. Or around 10 my time. Really any time between 11 PM and 5 AM GMT.

Soldat unfortunately doesn't work on a Mac, but if you have VMware you could set up a Windows XP VM and run it in there.

i've tried running soldat on VMware a few years ago on my macbook, and wasn't able to get it to work online.  Maybe things have changed since 2009 though.

I just boot into XP to play it normally (or when people used to play it I mean)

It should work now. I remember not being able to do it before as well.

i'll have to try it sometime.  I remember the last time I put VMWare on my computer, I had a lot of other problems with it as well.  Does anyone know if you can run soldat in crossover?
