Hello individuals of Games World

I am in a position in which I require a vid cam to shoot a music video project in HD.  I'm not looking for a pro grade camera, and was thinking something more along the  lines of a flip or something like that.  Something that looks good enough to be a little bit more than amateur, (prosumer) but not a 1,000+ camera.    Specifically, I'd like something under 200 dollars actually and can do good quality 1080p.  Optical zoom would be nice if something like that exists at the price range (no idea if it does) and can be sat on a tripod (either the tiny kind with the three little plastic legs, or a real one).    Maybe something like those dumb vloggers use, but can be used outside.  I'm planning on shooting a lot of stop-motion things with it.

I know nothing about vid cams.  TEll me about vid cams

Shoot it with a phone and say that the quality is an indie art style.

It looks like unless you are willing to pay at least twice what you were hoping for, you are most likely going to have to settle for 1080i.

This is just from initial searching based on the sony handycam my dad gave me, since I know absolutely nothing about camcorders/recording either, but my dad does it professionally. He bought the camera for those purposes, but the only issue he had with it was being unable to save the footage onto analog tapes for saving/recording to the computer later, and ended up giving it to me since he had no use for it. (he might have had issues getting the footage from the camera to his computer, but he is real keen on running a really outdated PC. So it's nothing against the camera itself, for not being far enough backwards-compatible) All I know for certain about it is it works on my computer, and I got it for free.

Can't say how good it is for your purposes, since I never use the thing, but it does seem like it would be ideal for any moment I decide I need to video-record something that doesn't look like it was recorded by a cell phone indie-filmaker.

If you do get a camera you like, update us on your progress using it. I am especially interested in the stop-motion process when using digitial equipment to capture each frame.

this is more of the camera that i am looking at (specifically camcorders).   Let me know if you know of a newer one (was looking at slightly older models to save some money on getting it used) or somethin that you would recommend.  I've been looking at the youtube samples from the samsung one I posted right above this, and really like the quality of it, but there is obviously always room for improvement.
