lol at the "shrugging things off" comment too, i spent way too much of my life "shrugging things off" that actually genuinely bothered me instead of just telling people that they bothered me.  i'm WAY happier telling them to go fuck themselves.

well one thing I can say for sure is that she was involved heavily in LGBT rights and stuff and has put up with a lot of horrible shit on this forum and in real life. that's just based on stuff I remember from years ago posting on GW. fragments. but someone who is used to dealing with real bigotry in real life probably doesn't care that someone said "don't say kawaii", since she probably obviously said it as a joke. If it actually did bother her and she PMd you about it then OK, I wholeheartedly apologize to her. I didn't mean it mkk.

You guys are taking this way way out of proportion. You've abused GR about 10 times more than he had Mkk. You called him dozens of names and insults, repeatedly said fuck you and you still can't see this as overeacting? He's admitted it was kinda dickish but hey move on? He didn't understand the bento thing and didn't know it was an actual hobby or whatever and saw it as mild cultural fetishism which isn't that much of a ridiculous assumption, I too thought that was the case.

i think it was just the say she kept saying BENTO over and over again. i don't care if people have lunchboxes. I have a lunch bag but for lunch i just eat a sandwich so a bento box is a bit overkill for me but it was the "cultural fetishism" that was bothering me I suppose. I don't get that. why can't you call it a lunch box, isn't that what it is? i mean isn't that what you said, bento box is just a "lunch box" but you can't call it a lunch box? calling it BENTO over and over again reeks of LOOK AT HOW UNIQUE I AM SO KAWAII. i like to have fun with my posts and be a little ironic and silly; i think a lot of us do. i don't know why it is offensive to you or whatever just because i used the word "~kawaii~" (exactly like that, between tildes, for added exaggeration). i guess you must have an impression of me that is very weeaboo-ish, and so some of my silly words seem genuine to you rather than kinda tongue-in-cheek/self-aware/ironic, as i see them. well, i definitely am not one of those non-disillusioned people who idealizes Japan based on pop culture and claims to know Japanese because they can insert misspelled romaji into their English sentences. i mean, i thought my excessive exclamation marks, improper apostrophes, and inconsistent capitalization was all pretty obvious that i am aware of the potential association with a weeaboo mindset, and that i was sorta mocking it with my post.

anyway this is all too meta for me. basically: you should NOT BE A JERK, as others have already called you out on. i really don't know why you called me an "attention whore"-- i never talk to you one-on-one or even on IRC, and i have probably made about 15 posts on saltw in the past 2 years. so i have no idea where you got that impression from. i was very surprised you'd say that, because i have no idea what makes you think you have basis for it. and i'm pretty sure other saltw peeps who talk to me on IRC/Skype/Steam/games wouldn't agree with what you said.

as far as bento stuff goes: Vellfire got one recently, and #saltw IRC frequenters were enjoying seeing her "qt bentos" photos. HybridZero and i decided to get bento boxes as well because of her. this is not just some random thing where i was suddenly like "LOOKIT MAI KAWAII BENTO"-- it's a shared hobby between friends. furthermore, as others have mentioned, bento boxes help to control portion sizes and encourage variety in diet. i am a horribly unhealthy eater, but i've been working to improve my diet-- and my bento box setup is encouraging me to eat better already. i think that's a pretty legit reason to have one!

(maybe i'm blind) but i didn't see much name-calling towards GR, just calling out on shitty behaviour. a lot of people are being aggressive but only in responce to ignorant offensiveness, which is understandable. His responses have only made the matter worse. If he had a point it is lost in aggravation, whatever mistakes he made first are now insignificant in the blind rudeness he has done since.

I couldn't really imagine taking a bento to work or really anywhere outside unless the tops were super secure(the ones i've seen just sorta sit on top of the box and don't really seal). I walk all over town and take the bus/lightrail everywhere so I could see one of those things getting all jumbled or falling out into my bag by lunchtime.
