ATTN: kawaii bentos comin' through!!!
HybridZero bought me a bento set because he is a nice dude~ :3

i think having my meals in my bento is a good idea because i am a horribly unhealthy eater (I. Have. Issues.....) and the bento box setup encourages me to monitor portion sizes and eat some variety.

soooo this is ~My First Bento~ it is rice with cheese melted on it and also some grapes.
P.S. does anyone else like rice with cheese? my Chinese sister-in-law thinks it is an abomination, but i like it.

and here is what i just ate for breakfast/lunch today, bento #2:

contents:
-black tea with milk and sugar
-mini pancakes and syrup
-banana slices
-grapes
-hulless popcorn
-multigrain bread pieces and cheddar cheese

i ended up not having much of the bread and cheese because i was full and i eat too much bread anyway.
the pancakes + syrup deal worked well; i used my chopsticks to dip 'em.
also do you like my mug? (not my FACE, L.O.L..... my "mug" means my CUP, silly~~! ;3) it is from Caribou Coffee™ and it says "LIFE IS SHORT. STAY AWAKE FO,." because it is DEFECTIVE (it came that way!!) but i like that motto better than what it is supposed to be.

yup
semper games.

your sister inlaw is right, dont melt cheese on yr rice!

the coolest thing to do with rice is mix in a bunch of wild long-grain black, brown and red rice so it's not just white rice. It comes out purple and has a bit more flavor to it.

Is rice good for you? Honest question. Not that it would stop me from eating it in either case.

AFAIK white rice is neutral than good or bad - fairly safe in every way once prepared right (shouldn't take long). it's nutriental value is really poor but it has no anti-nutrients or lectins whatsoever (once it was soaked/the shell was removed, i can't remember which/how but is should be easy/fast) so it works well as a safe source of carbs (though it seems that one could argue sweet potato would work better due to great nutriental value but alas idk if there are anti-nutrients involved). It's basically starches..

To summarize 4 u warped/to avoid the hi-fi diet stuff parts: you could just start with simple (like im doing now) and idk buy salmon (sold cheaply) and eat white rice with it, just soak it well.  or buy any meat for white rice. or any vegetable (save beans or seeds, not so good sources of nutrition), though just add an ripe avocado with it or extra virgin olive oil or coconut oil with the veggies for a fat source (though missing fat for one day won't break ya).

sorry, does this make any sense??

I'm a terrible cook, don't expect to many dishes I made myself other than the basics. The most advanced thing I can do is cook an egg over easy without breaking or overcooking the yoke 95% of the time.
you can make good salmon pr cheap that can be already cut for you (A- or D-cut, either means barely any bones) that takes 2 minutes to get outta packet, dress up & throw on a ceramic plate or w/e and to oven & it's ready after 20 minutes. I learned this 2 weeks ago and i know nothing about cooking, yet i succeeded & tastes pretty darn good!!
Dress/spice it with salt and white pepper as spices (and possibly crunched white onions you sprinkle). think about that/try it out!! as better foods/meats go, even farmed fish can be better than unpasteurized, cheap pig meat. just pick smaller fish (a young fish) for lesser amounts of any kind of accumulation of "shit".

you could cook any kind of those smaller gabbage type of veggies for 10 minutes (just put a teaspoon of salt in the water) and voila, u got tasty veggies with it.
if neither is not tasty/salty enough, obv. add salt on em.

though if u want a golden advice, buy atlantic raw/unrefined sea salt. use it as table salt. it's kinda big/chunky salt particles but it's -so- much better in nutrition value. your body, especially adrenal gland, NEEDS minerals and good salt like sea salt, not NaCl that your tablesalt is reduced to. my brainfog eases when i take that type of salt cos my adrenal gland is fatigued as fuck (it's def not placebo though, just google search or ask me for sources/links).

Yeah, I'm not a fan of cheese on my rice either. But I like mac and cheese which is similar in that its high carb + cheese/dairy.

Yeah even just adding a little bit of glutinous black rice will make it purple. (As long as it's glutinous you won't need the brown/red rice.) They actually do this in Japan a lot, particularly for bentos.

my favorite way of preparing salmon is simply grilling it. At high temperature it doesn't take too long to do. It has to look a bit uncooked in the center (though it should still be hot), much like a medium steak. And yeah you can get it for real cheap. Wild salmon is typically far more tasty than farmed salmon.

that's a nice idea!! huh, so leave raw in mid eh... the more u know... also i DREAM of wild salmon but holy shit shouldn't they/they MUST cost to something like 20 euros a bite...! these amazing wild animal pokemon world...!
for example, i guess farmed salmon does have omega 3 to some degree but are also famous for the eco burdening/also they fucking routinely add RED COLOURING/feed the fish with it because people "statistically like red salmon better", holy shit this pristine nature of finland... plus who knows what kind of shit they feed em (other salmon...this amazing dystopia wolrd... okay im just rollin along/see me rollin dey be hadin/having fun)

Yeah who knows what they do to those salmon at the farm. All I know is salmon farms have a severe ecological impact on the surrounding areas, so it's probably pretty heavy on chemicals and other stuff.

two days ago my best friend and i made homemade onigiri, which was a more involved process than we thought it would be since we had to clean the rice a lot and mix the vinegar/salt/sugar flavor combination and whatnot... but the results were delicious :3

here is an additional pic link of us just bein' ~kawaii~ and eating onigiri: http://i.imgur.com/REKRO.jpg

now, moving on to...... BENTO!!!

this same best friend and i had a bento lunch together yesterday. we used some of the leftover sushi rice from the onigiri adventure. here is my bento:

contents:
-rice (with flavoring)
-scrambled egg
-grapes
-french toast and syrup
-banana slices

excuse the lame banana slice spilling into the french toast section OMG what a bento faux-pa..... o_o;; i didn't realize it was like that until after i took pics OH WELL it was all delicious so. also here is A Semi-Disheveled Me With Bento: http://i.imgur.com/bU8Wn.jpg

here is my bff's bento:

contents:
-rice (with flavoring)
-grapes
-scrambled egg
-mini pancakes with syrup
-walnuts
-tomato slice

her bento box is much smaller than mine and she doesn't have any dividers or cups or anything (though i let her use one of mine for the syrup in this lunch). my bento is WAY COOLER obvi because it was given to me by an online friend~ uvu hehe but yeah!

i <3 bento's
semper games.

no offense but you guys seem like you're eating "bento box" just for the sake of doing it. like you guys are just eating random foods thrown into a box, what does "bento" have to do with anything? it just seems like some kind of attention thing. also never say kawaii, not even ironically. that post made me unreasonably irritated.
yes coulombs are "germaine", did you learn that word at talk like a dick school?

????

"bento" is just the japanese name for boxed lunch. that's literally what it is in the picture. that's a japanese lunch box. a japanese lunch usually has a lot of different things neatly arranged in a sectioned box. it's japanese style rather than US or German or Croatian or Chilean style.

if this was a spanish invention we'd probably call it an almuerzo.
