lol, is that your impression of me? I have a bit more of uh... depth than that
whether or not your posts have more depth than that is irrelevant. my whole point was that you feeling repressed by "political correctness" is the problem. i dont care if your racism is supposed to be ironic or not. "ironic" racism still normalizes racism and perpetuates racist ideologies.

how embarrassing

Anyway, to set the record straight:
the only time I used the N word was for the Whitman Mayo picture. Which used to be a recurrent GW character way back in time, maybe 2005? So I was recalling it. I always found that Mayo pic hilarious. I think it was Diggity Dawg who heralded it.
It has no significance, really. Just ticks my humour nerve.

Other than that, no I don't feel the need to use racial slurs. So we are stretching it a bit if you guys are thinking I do.

You brought it up first though by saying everyone here was "too PC" and "too nice" or something and that you "don't have a place" because of that.
yes coulombs are "germaine", did you learn that word at talk like a dick school?

Hell, I guess technically if I take determinism far enough I can't be rationally mad at anyone...

I don't care if I know logically that someone wasn't seeking to hurt me, slurs that target me are gonna hurt me every damn time, and because of that I can extend that feeling to slurs that don't target me.  Why the fuck does anyone NEED to be using them anyway?  They aren't funny jokes.
For the case of rules of our forum? definitely.

You are right, no one really 'needs' to no, especially not here.

I don't think they are funny either but taste is subjective. Some people find the suffering of other people funny.

(EDIT OOPS I QUOTED THE WRONG POST)
No, they don't really matter that much. Maybe someone would be content to know that someone "didn't mean it", but as I said before it's also the fact that people don't like being confronted with the knowledge that they are treated as second class citizens by society. So you can have the best intentions imaginable, and it would still make someone feel bad. And it really doesn't help to know that someone considers it good humor to say things that you take offense to.

This kind of reminds me of what the hacks like Sam Harris and Christopher Hitchens used to say, about how the US is far better than Osama Bin Laden because we don't intend to kill children, and that puts us "in a different moral universe" (actual quote). But the truth is, it doesn't matter when you're a child that's staring at the smoldering remains of his house and family.

I guess it might be different in your country Dada, but intent is generally considered fairly important in determining the amount of guilt of any party.

Its what separates murder from manslaughter for instance.

Making a special exception makes sense in our case because joining us is optional in the first place and that determining intent over the internet can be fairly difficult.

Also I think its fairly clear Sheppard wanted to stir something up and got more than he wanted.

That's because I was recalling all these things from the past and everyone seems to be embarrassed about.
And I'm more like, this our past man... we used to laugh at these things, and I still find them humorous, perhaps because it is a part of our shared history.

Who the fuck said this was a court case???  Don't try to put Not Being A Shit To Your Fellow Human Beings Who Are Suffering in the context of the law, fuck, the law doesn't even get this right half the time.

I just find them supremely embarrassing because we were all awful.  I can't look back on "ha ha remember how we used to say slurs all the time" and chuckle about it.

e: Especially when we have things in our past that AREN'T horrifying to most of us in the present that we could laugh and reminisce about.

OK, so let's take your logic. Say someone stabs me to death, they get brought in front of a judge, and he explains "But your honor, I was only testing the sharpness of my knife! I didn't intend to kill Mr. Dada."

Does anyone think that makes it better in any way?

Now, if someone uses a slur without knowing that it is one, that's different—that's like, as you say, being unintentionally involved in someone's death. What I asked was that people make a serious effort. But everybody makes mistakes. We're bound to. So what you do then is you apologize and move on. But that certainly has nothing to do with making jokes about a slur and then claiming you "didn't intend to offend".

fyi nobody here is going to believe you were "just trolling" or anything like that. What it looks like is that you passionately support the use of slurs in humor and started backing off the moment it became clear that this is an untenable position in today's community.

one of them was a terrible discussion about how I considered that SLASH was a terrible name.

Not really, I don't support the use of slurs in humour nowadays, but I hold sacred the humour we used to have, because it was part of our history, it is kinda romantic. That level of political incorrectness. I'm not backing off anywhere.

Yep you're making a really good case for your whole "I was only trolling" defense by consistently posting more bullshit and defending your use of slurs???

Proportionally speaking?  Might as well be.  Thanks for being obtuse so as not to have to confront your disgusting pride in some of the worst parts of our site's history though.

But am I trolling? I think I've been sincere about everything so far. But you guys don't agree.

I hold dearly the way we used to use slurs in funny ways in the past here in GW. IT WAS EDUCATIONAL.
You guys seem to be embarrassed by it. I'm not, ok? I like to remember it, and I think you guys are a bit too PC about it.

and I'm wondering now if you guys also disapprove Louis CK's use of slurs in the youtube provided

but it's OK because there's a donation link to cystic fibrosis at the beginning so that buys you just enough BitCoins™ to get off a few good slurs
