How ergonomic is the controller, man? Like it looks a bit clunky and ill-fitting - is it actually comfortable on the hands?

Like clutching the Xbox 360 pad is more comfortable than anything I've found so far :(.
I haven't really used the xbox much so I can't compare to that, but I think the controller is fine. I was able to hold it for an hour so and I didn't have any issues. The buttons were fine, I thought the analog sticks were a little stiff. Also I don't really like how the dpad feels.

So it's a bit like a cheap PC gaming pad or whatever? I guess that's ok :x.

Let me know if you manage to get like an xbox controller working on it!!! It's what I use for SNES etc at the second.

Happy HELLoween, you are the magellan of controller usage!!!

We got three Xbox controllers and my Ouya controller hooked up to the thing and played 4 way towerfall. It's a ton of fun, a really good game. After using the Xbox controller though I like it 1000x times better than Ouya's. Ouya controller feels crappy compared to it. Also it definitely has the range issues as mentioned in that article. If I moved my hands too far away, or slightly under the table while using it the input could cut out a little bit. I didn't have that problem at all when using wireless Xbox controller with USB dongle adapter.

So, I recommend buying Xbox controllers if you get one, they are cheaper than the Ouya controllers too.

Dude, you just totally sold the Ouya to me on the final point of contention. Good show man, I have Xbox 360 pads already, and now I'm way pumped!

THANK YOU HAPPY HELLOWEEN!!!

Also: Holy shit, I didn't even think about using the wireless pads. I have a couple of WIRED ones because fuck batteries.
Hey hey hey

The XBone controller is probably the only Xbox-related thing I am likely to buy in the next generation. I use the current gen 360 controller and wireless dongle on my living room PC and it is glorious PC gaming with lazy console controls.

I like the PS3 controller because it feels more like a traditional game-pad. It might not be as ergonomic as the 360 (convex triggers WTF) / this may just be nostalgia as I have only ever bought Sony consoles.

Does Ouya have its own marketplace that is separate to the android app store?

You can play android games with a bluetooth gamepad on your tablet/phone. It's what I intend to do with my Nexus 7 when I have to sit on a plane for 11 hours next month ;D

ohh ok i didn't know that. i would assume that any android developer with any sense and a game that is compatible with controller would take the day out to port it to ouya, so hopefully you won't need to root it to get to the android story, but the option is always there i guess

Ouya initially seemed cool but the marketing of it was terrible, I literally know of no games on the Ouya other than Minecraft and I don't even know where to get one even if I wanted one. Also, I'm not exactly big on the whole digital download only thing because if you buy a game and find out it sucks you can't even sell it and get some of your money back. Basically, there's nothing I really see on the Ouya that I can't already get either on PC or PS3, so unless there's a really, really cool killer app for it it pretty much stands out to me as this generation's 3DO.

True enough since I own one. At least I know that the 3DO actually HAS games.

Why the OUYA wasn't an instant success is beyond me. After all, it had such great tools, like piss-linux and a special processor built just for pissing out of its own pissholes. You never knew what to expect with it! There were reports of people sitting on couches trying to play video games, and some of them even emulated something. Let's take a phone, put it in a box, put the vent holes on the bottom, and play touchscreen games on screens that aren't touchscreens with a controller that looks like a buttplug for someone with a boomerang-shaped colon.
I'm going to think of something positive to say now. Here it is: "At least its controller isn't as bad as the Retron 5 one." There we go.

True enough, and at least the Retron 5 allowed for the option of using controllers that don't suck. Honestly the only controller I see that possibly looks worse is the Steam Controller, which to me looks like it might as well have been covered in thumb tacks, and seriously, a touch screen d-pad?
