Great game

It proved that the greatest graphics don't make a game good

I loved the character interaction and the realism of each character!

When is Act II coming out, and I suppose its on Rm2k not 2k3?

This is why I hate the complete games forum, so hidden up there; and I didnt even know new screenshots of my favorite rpgmaker game were released.

Blasphemy.

Dude, can you please tell me what to do in the first town? I went to the docks, the graveyea-rd and lavie`s room,  I talked to everyone I could talk to, what must I do? I can`t enter the park, the fat monk thing is still in front of the door and he won`t exit his village (I even double talked to everyone because some have 2 dialogue scenes).

Please tell me, I want to get the hell out of that town! I`ve been in it for an hour!
I like pie :-)

Whoa, this thread liiiiiives once more!

Bagels!: Hehe, thank you for the praise. Unfortunately, I can't give any specific release date. I can only state it won't be in 2007...    I'll be sticking with RM2K, indeed.

Nightblade: Looking forward to your own offering. :)

RPGer: Being stuck is never fun... If you're still not sure what to do, try checking the text file for a "mini-walkthru" that can get you through the first day. Hopefully, that'll help.

TFT: Gasp! Did you never get a chance to finish Act I? I... I feel a crying smiley coming on...

Not sure if I'm "allowed" to per se, but here are a couple more Act II screenshots:

Those are still using the older maps that have yet to be fully replaced.

And here's a screenshot of a different sort, heh:

Aw man, I'm getting chills seeing more stuff coming up. Love and War has to be one of my favorite RM games so far, and that's just because of the characterization and the dialogue. That chart's pretty nice too. I've been trying myself to develop worlds like that; I just can't get it from head to paper.

Also, I was browsing around Japanese sites, and I found this. It made me think of, well, you and your stuff. XD

Good Luck.

Trance2: Aw, thank you. :) It's funny you should mention that, because I once stumbled upon http://www.cest-lavie.co.jp/ and had much the same reaction...

Bagels!: Will do! *salute*

TFT: Oh, heh. Glad to hear that! Hey, don't you still owe me one of your way-cool four panel comics?! :)

By the way, a most dedicated LAWyer recently completed a walkthru for Act I, which can be found here: http://www.freespaces.com/lavalamp5/Love%20and%20War%20walkthrough.html  On the whole, it's quite a thorough guide! Hopefully that should help any who are stuck; as always, I'm but an e-mail away as well.

I've started playing through Act I, and I say.. there certainly aren't many problems with it... though I must make some suggestions.

1. The beginning town, where you had to talk to everyone, seemed a little too drawn out, and I was itching to get onto the battles.
2. Mapping could be a little better, such as docks, and the appearance of the ship. Also, houses and roofs could do with a little
adjustment to make them blend better and appear smoother. I haven't seen any real problems with the inside maps yet.
3. When I see clocks in the game, they all appear to be lying on the ground. It might look better if you raised them all by one tile
so that they're completely on the wall.

Can't believe there are screenshots for act 2 and i didn't know about them, you should make a topic for act 2 so people don't miss out.

Well, I certainly hope to, but I should probably have Act II ready first.  :)

I really liked C'est Lavie! The female part of the voice acting was really good, I can't say the same for the male voice though it sounds kinda' dull.

- A bit more enthusiasm while doing Lavie Sandiego's voice would make it better
-Sometimes the level of music and voice is really imbalanced, I think you should either tone down the music or raise the volume of the voice.

The part where she is confused, the one with all the voices and different Lavies is really good! It reminded me of some similar scenes from Farscape, the humor as well :)

You should definitely incorporate voice acting in some places of your game, especially if it's as good as in C'est Lavie, it would add up to the atmosphere of the game, help us understand the characters better, add emotion and so on.

More people have to reply to this topic and give their reviews about the game after playing it. Love and War I is just such an amazing game, an instant classic. It's bright and comedic and at the same time has more serious aspects to it (most of them coming up in the future, ACT: II).

Again, more people that have played the game and havn't replyed to this topic have to seriously get crackin' on even a short review.

Also, those that have played through and love Love and War should really get to signing up an account and posting a couple posts over at the LAW community over on the LAW website.

This game diserves the attention that The Legend of The Philosophers Stone has gotten so far on it's 2 Demos.

So please, if there are any people that are still out there or reading this post/topic, please post here or at his website and support Admiral Styles. It might inspire him enough to get him working faster and more steady on LAW II, or we may see some really awesome side-projects come out pretty soon. :-)

I will comment on Act 1 as soon as I finish it but I haven't yet. I really like the story so far and the many fun moments. Admiral Styles sure knows how to write. The game is inspiring, I'd like to make something like that as well without having to worry about custom stuff and not using RTP because all I'm good at is making up stories and I have a few of them that could be turned into games :)

Thanks for the feedback on C'est Lavie Teodor, glad you liked it! Ryan may come across as a bit stiff there because of Lavie's wackiness, maybe? But, who really knows. :) I hope you enjoy Act I!

I've come to realize that even though you don't use any complex stuff in your game it's still so hard to make even something like it. For me at least, I don't remember the things I used to be able to do in RPG Maker. I tried making my own game and it took me 2 hours just to start off the intro which is only a few lines of text, the character jumping around and the map of a small room...
