I've started watching WWE wrasslin'. Sometimes it's good, sometimes it's funny, sometimes it's hilariously bad. All in the same night.

you know when I was a kid, a lot of my classmates were wild about WWE but I intentionally avoided it because it was the kids I didn't like who always talked about it.

but now that I'm older it seems a surprising number of my current friends were actually big on WWE as a kid. sort of makes me wish I wasn't struck with early-onset snobbishness/hipsterdom/arbitrary exclusiveness of taste at the time.

kids were into WWF when I was a kid too. mostly the poorer kids or the kids with divorced parents. I was friends with some of them, but I didn't really like pro wrestling because of the sex and spectacle of violence! what a pretentious little brat. it seems like it was a particularly bad era tho, Stone Cold Steve Austin 3:16 was the biggest guy in the Federation at that time and all the kids loved him. I'm pretty sure there was also some The Great White Hope sort of thing going on too. maybe I would've been able to get into one of the earlier years with the zanier babyface/heel characgters.

I couldn't get into wrestling because it seemed incredibly cheesy, insultingly phony, and completely trashy. Of course as a kid I probably would have said it was just dumb.

I don't hold anything against those that watch it, but I'm at a loss as to how they could appeal to anyone. (much like soaps) Unless you watch it because its so bad, like watching bad B-movies.

I've continued to work for the auctioneer (yes, I'm working for an auctioneer) As payment issues have been sorted. But I'm going to be blunt I sort of hate working for the dude. He constantly either in snarky or snipy mode. That is, when he's happy/content, he'll provide a constant stream of subtly gleeful sarcasm, backhanded compliments, and snide remarks and when he's angry he'll yell at and insult people. And he's cheap, so I largely just act as an everyman to fill in the gaps for areas where he really just should have paid a bit more for stability and organization. Both auctions I was working at for him have been completely disorganized chaos.

First time I've ever heard an auctioneer in person though do the 'auctioneer chant'. Its sort of bizarre and seems like you'd think such a service would be outdated by now.

that's my impression of why my current friends liked it, they don't really seem like the types of people who would have bought into the hypermasculine aggression at face value or whatever.

anyways, hey I meant to say this but forgot, but if you have payment issues with these guys, one option is that you can file a complaint with your states department of labor if they haven't been paying you right. that's messed up, though, and I hope you can get things cleared out

Yeah, nah I'm good now. Lets just say I've been informed and its pretty clear I'm going to get paid. If something goes horribly awry though I suppose filing a complaint would be a smart move. But yeah I don't think it'll be necessary thankfully.

He was extremely laid back too. Like the nicest, calmest cat I've ever known. Also the largest cat I've ever known (he weighed like 25 pounds, and yes he was a little fat but really he was heavy because he was huge, he was a main coon). I'll probably never see a cat like him again.

Our remaining 2 pets aren't allowed to die.

Ugh.

Shit dude, sorry about your loss, Warped.

I saw My Bloody Valentine live last night. It was really great. They played about half of both Loveless and their new album as well as some choice cuts of their older material. My one gripe was that the venue I was at did not have a sound system that could handle mbv. They tried to fix the sound about halfway though, but kind of fucked it up more to the point where the microphones were picking up more bleed from the amps than vocals Bilinda wasn't very audible at all towards the end.Still, it was a really great show and it was just as loud as I had been promised.

Also, the opener had a psychedelic light show being projected behind them, but then they got an error message on top of it saying their computer's battery power was low. A roadie rushed to fix it, but about halfway through the next song the video closed out and they were playing in front of a giant view sonic logo for a minute before they noticed that. The singer went to fix it by shutting the laptop, which of course did nothing, and finally the roadie came and unplugged the thing. I felt bad laughing at them for that, because I've played concerts where shit like that goes wrong, but it was just really a masterpiece of technical difficulties.

My theme suggestion would be: real-life artwork.

So this would entail all your artwork being derivative of photographs or videos of real life objects.

i like this idea a lot

i remember thecatamites did some real cool stuff like this in AGS using plasticene & cardboard

whether it's official theme or not i hope we see some of this....

my thinking is we're gonna have a few "bonus points" suggestions, things we won't hold anyone to, but that it'd be neat if people did anyways.   horse names is one example of such a thing, and "real materials" could be another
