i don't know why the movie wouldn't be considered "canon." its not like there are any GLARING CONTRADICTIONS or anything and it seems to fit into the general mythos pretty well.

It's not canon simply because any character development in the movie will not be transferred to
the original storyline as intended by Tite Kubo. It is also the reason that certain characters still
can't release their zanpakutou in the movies, simply because it didn't happen in the manga or anime
yet.

That said, the Bount and Princess Saga's are filler, and therefore not canon. I've enjoyed either
immensely though, and the bount saga could easily have been part of the canon. The thing is,
when you start inserting filler into something, it starts making less sense (like switching from
hueco mundo to the princess saga in a flash, and probably making the transition back at the
end of it).

I must agree that some people take canon too far (For instance Star Wars: Expanded Universe),
but canon is essential to let the characters and world evolve in a sensible fashion. I don't know,
but I just like being sucked into a fictional world from time to time. It's why I read and watch bleach.
If I wanted it to make no sense and be mindfuck I'd be watching Mulholland Drive.

Anyway... The only reason I said it was a pity the movie wasn't canon was because they won't
be taking this back into the manga or anime, so in essence everyone will have forgotten about it
in the anime/manga storyline. Which is sad because of the character development.

The anime did have small changes from the manga in order to fit the bount arc in (appearances by the three mod-souls and Ichigo's fight against his memory of the bount leader as part of the training to control his inner hollow).

Right. Therefore it still fits in the continuity of the Anime, even though it never happened
in the manga. At least they've tried to use the events of that arc in other arcs as well.

Let's close the canon discussion for now and enjoy bleach, shall we? ^^

I just recently got into bleach... just finished watching til ep 106.. it's actually the best anime i've ever watched so far

I've been an on and off fan, but geez, this series is SO confusing now. It was easy to follow up to Hueco Mundo IMO, but wow...

Well, Soul Society has been generally easy to follow, but Bleach is a very difficult series to get into unless you read/watch it from the beginning. For example, I started reading the manga at the Turn Back the Pendulum series, quite easy to follow, and then we get thrown back into the clusterfuck that is Hueco Mundo or whatever. I just need to catch up with the anime first -_-

the fillers are over now, i kind of like how they admitted to having a cop-out wrap-up.

Didn't they throw those fillers in mid-arc?

I found it funny how the anime points out how it just magically left and returned to the Hueco Mundo arc. Orihime showing Ichigo which point of the manga they left off at the end of the episode was pretty funny.

Ep 190 is out along with a cool new opening and an alright ending. Unfortunately, majority of the episode is a recap presented in low-def (meaning side-bars). Next weeks ep looks to be awesome though.

I like episode 192-193... badass.

 Nel turned out to be a pretty sweet character (turning into her former espada body and being espada #3!)
I figured she had some type of power that would come back to her eventually...

I dont know if it's just me... but pesche and dondo are fckin annoying....
