I liked when this topic was just a bunch of guys enjoying the daily news about a game. But then it became a debate about....... something not even clear but maybe I don't understand because I have an attention span of 2 posts.

how many posts, if any, were not just restating exactly what was on the site? how much discussion was going on? and how much discussion is about that shit anyways? it's usually "oh, beam saber changed, that's cool!"

it's not like this thread is totally popping with activity, I don't see why it's suddenly off color to be like "hey, dude, what the fuck" when someone is like "YOU'RE THE TYPE OF PERSON WHO SPOILS MOVIES FOR THEMSELVES AREN'T YOU". what I find worst of all is how no one seems to realize that this is exactly what he said which was why I brought up the other shit, and then he just said "nope, never said anything like that" and everyone is like "way to overreact...people are trying to enjoy themselves you ass", when if anything I was arguing for enjoying one of the updates as being just as valid as any of the others!

but yeah let's face it this topic is kind of bad a lot of the time mostly because a game can't release good info every day, but for some odd reason every day there are new posts restating exactly what we knew and then posts restating those! the derails about tournaments or character costumes are so much more interesting than "oh, a song" but whenever they go somewhere, a mod or admin comes in to say back on topic and everyone posts what was on the website or my favorite, the rampant conjecture on what's up next.

honestly I pointed out Sarhan but in addition to his whitenoise he does post interesting things that are actually news, as opposed to a lot of the discussion that goes on in this thread and I find it a little ridiculous it's up to 56 pages and people seem to think being slightly off topic is too dangerous...but

a brief summary.

jester posts he hates some story update. some guy says he likes it.

jester says that guy is like someone who reads a plot of a movie before watching it. the connotation is obviously one that is NEGATIVE. if you want to argue that it isn't, w/e, I just wouldn't say that and I don't know anyone that would read that as a POSITIVE message.

I said that the plot of SSMB isn't ridiculously great and he's not doing himself a disservice by watching it, and saying he's doing something like spoiling a movie for himself and ruining an experience is overkill.

jester backpedals and says that all he said was he hated story updates, and that he never cared about the spoiler aspect before, even though that is exactly what he said. the other meaning you can MAYBE get from this is he hates anything that spoils something which begs the question as to how it's different from any other update (since after all, knowing how Sonic plays or even that he is in the game alters the experience).

since his post was on the previous page, no one saw it and all assumed he was telling the truth and I was just being an asshole and trying to tell people to not like the game, which could be drawn when I argued the thread is also kind of whitenoise news circlejerking. of course, this was not the case and the original argument was that people are not shortchanging themself by watching a story vid.

and now we're here and DS is going to post something that will have some severe logical flaw but no one else will notice it and you'll get warned if you reply!

This is 56 pages long, so it's not like going off-topic as long as it's still somewhat related to SSBB is bad! (Also, I should add that this isn't the point where everybody posts "yes Steel we've had it with your stupid pointless arguments", just let it rest.)

to be fair, this is one of the stupider things I've had to debate but only because I never imagined someone would seriously say Super Smash Brothers had some amazing plot that would remove enjoyment from the game if revealed and anyone who watched what was essentially a trailer was doing the same thing as reading a movie plot before watching it.
