Currently watching old episodes of "Fun Moomin Family (Tanoshii Muumin Ikka)" via Nico Nico Douga... as well as whatever else I can find via that site.

Reading some issues of "Yotsuba to" and "Ge Ge Ge no Kitarou" in Japanese that I picked up.

Getting into Japanese language and culture studies in college has gotten me all nerdy into that kind of stuff lately.

college isn't just for young people!  for example the average age of the cleveland state student is like THIRTY-TWO or something crazy so maybe he goes to one of those schools that somehow attract almost exclusively adults.  or maybe he doesn't since i'm sure there're older people in some quantity at just about every college.  going back to school, or getting a late start, isn't all that rare.

also holy shit it's abraxa

ALSO also that is what we in the biz refer to as an exaggeration.

lol, cool

Also watchmen was really rad. I tried the first volume of League of Extraordinary Gentlemen afterwards but didn't like it as much (was okay but nothing special really)

edit:
I'm watching GunXSword.

seriously that's a real anime?

by the way

i also read watchmen and went on to look into other shit he did, and didn't especially care for it.  but, i DID like from hell and while the redone swampthing shit steel told me about was pretty good it was still fairly COMIC BOOKish and while watchmen was too i guess it seemed like it was to a lesser extent, and probably satirical to begin with where swampthing seemed to be pretty sincere about it.  so yeah check from hell out maybe.  actually i do not know what you like but i tend to enjoy the stuff that is not too comic bookish, you know?  and i don't just mean shit that has like UNDERLYING THEMES and symbolism and fucking social/political commentary either, really.  just like, i will occasionally read some comic/graphic novel like watchmen or the sandman or tricked (i think these are good examples because none of them are anything like the other two) or something that will be pretty great and not like... overwhelmingly entrenched in the comic book scene/style to the point where i am like "man this couldn't be anything BUT a comic book could it."

Yeah, you seem to like what I liked about it so I'm gonna take that advice and find a copy of from hell. Oh wait, from hell is that jack the ripper story they made into a film (probably terrible like all those other conversions I've no idea), I'd be well up for reading that.
I totally know what you mean about some comics being too comic bookish even though said like that it sounds really dumb. Like I could have read the story of watchmen in novel form and I don't think it would have been that much less enjoyable but the same couldn't be said for the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, that would just be trash. It's not really because the story is any worse (although in that particular case I'd have to say it really is) but like you say it's a bit too bogged down BEING A COMIC BOOK that it's not as good as it could have been, I dunno.

Might read FMA as I've seen the anime and I've heard tell that it's quite different.

You should try "Batman: The Dark Knight Returns" by Frank Miller. Considered with good reason to be one of the greatest comics ever made.

Also, check out the trade paperbacks of 100 Bullets, Y: The Last Man, Preacher, and maybe Transmetropolitan. 'S all good...

Parasyte
Death Note
Alive!
Prince of Tennis[though ][/though]

Mangas I'm currently reading[Weekly]
:

Eyeshield21
Naruto
Bleach
Full Metal Alchemist[Though ][/Though]
Claymore[Again ][/Again]
Beach Stars
Shin Angyo Onshii[though ][/though]
Double Arts

I read them translated from Japanese on the internet.  They usually come out about a day or two after the chapter is released in Japan.

I'm currently following Code Geass R2 (as always), but on the side i've been watching through Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann.  It's good, but a little more light hearted than I'd prefer.   I finished watching episode 25 last night, and will probably finish  the last two episodes  later today.

As much as I'd like to be a squealing fanboy.... nothing. I am not watching or reading anything. I watched Persona for a while.... but that fell apart. I'd normally be watching shit like Bleach and Code Geass R2... but I am waiting for them to finish the season so I can catch them in a sitting like I normally do (Because they are too weak to hold my interest in a week to week basis). But yeah... although I have made no conscious decision to give up anime... I pretty much stopped.
