new Foo Fighters single is out. it's pretty good imo! Definitely better than their last couple of singles, and it's also a lot "heavier."

That preview is pretty cool.  Judging from that, this should be much cooler than Blank Planet.

I'm not a big Elliot Smith fan like a lot of people here, but that's kind of disgusting.  I hope they can remove the graffiti without damaging what's underneath.

I have never understood straight edge

but I find it impossible for a band to make psychedelic music and be straight edge at the same time, the two ideas are pretty much polar opposite

yes i remember reading an interview with omar and cedric and they said they are clean now for 3 years. they only occasionally smoke pot.

Omar writes pretty much all of the music and he is a hard working nut. He doesn't need drugs to enhance his creative force, on the contrary, drugs would probably numb him and his creative writing.
I imagine Omar having the mind structured in a way that when he channels his ideas, the eclectic/psychedelic element is a natural feature.
In the same way it would work in Zappa's mind. The guy wrote sheet music but it was all awkward and counter-cultural. But the man was no on drugs.
