I just got Luso. I hate how they give you awesome characters when your basic units are master job classes. -sigh- Guess I'll wait for Beowulf and Balthier to level Luso.

Tommorow I'll be getting my PSP modded, so I'll actually be able to play this game.

Gamefaqs seems unusually empty for this sort ofthing, but are there any special methods needed to get the new secret characters?

Zeklaus Desert on your way to Riovanes, Chapter 3. It's a required battle. It's also a great way to poach some Behemoths using Luso's innate poach.
You get Balthier in Chapter 4 by reading some rumours about Thieves  "Rash of Thefts" in the Imperial Capital Lesalia or Coal City Gollund then again at Dorter "A call for guards". Trying to leave Dorter triggers the battle, I'm not sure how early you can get him but I had him before Finath Creek (he was the only reason I survived since my overlevelled party had to fight a ton of overlevelled Red and one or two Yellow Chocobos who kept healing them), you may have to watch the new Delita/Ovelia scene at Zeltennia though.

The link I posted to the FFT: TLW gamefaqs message board sticky also has a lot of useful information.

I've been playing multiplayer a lot and some missions are pretty damn difficult, especially since I haven't looted all of deep dungeon yet or gotten a load of multiplayer items but I did get a Deathbringer Dark Knight sword. The enemies have a lot of cool items to steal so I think next time I go on I'm focusing on stealing.

is that the squire abiilty?  because if so, it seems decently potent already (like a ~30% increase), so how good was it in the original?

oh, well, it doesn't quite give you a flat amount, but it scales with your job level, i think.  i went from getting 33 with it equipped to, at a higher job level, 49.  from there it maxed out at 52 or 55, i think.  maybe you're remembering how it was on a higher leveled character.

I could almost swear it was always 49 JP...

Well, its good to see some things never change!

hey so i beat the game and do not really get that scene after the credits.  SPOILERS ETC but i don't feel like doing tags so:

firstly i don't really get why he went ahead and stabbed her, especially because he seemed to be pretty unhappy about it afterwards.  also, as he was talking after he did it, he was slumped over, so i'm not even sure if she stabbed him too when she lunged into his arms right before he killed her, or if the slumping was remorse-/grief-induced.

so yeah what was that whole thing about.  it made pretty much zero sense to me!

I think its one of those endings that's up to speculation; which makes it such a fantastic ending.

alright if you say so!  if it is actually not supposed to make any real sense and is solely "up for interpretation" then i would call that a pretty bad ending, actually, considering the entire game delita has made his motives very clear and not even remotely up for interpretation.  after so much of "this is what i am going to do, and why," it's pretty cheesy to end it with "or was it................." for no discernible reason.

Well I played this game so long ago but I think she tried to stab him (or did stab him) first. I don't recall the ending being up for interpretation.

I just checked and according to this she did stab him:

this script translation also confirms it.

wow, if that is any indication of the rest of the translation, that IS pretty fucking hard to understand!  thanks, though, that clears a little up for me.  i'm kind of surprised he stabbed her back, but i could understand why she'd stab him, though i wouldn't have thought she would, either.

FFTA 2 is coming out, and it looks just as sub par as FFTA! Hurray!
It really is. I've been playing the japanese rom of it and they didn't update it at all.

How the hell do you get Balthier? I've looked at various walkthroughs and all say different cities to find the rumour "Rash of thieves". Yet, none of these cities mentioned show it. I'm in Chapter 4 and have Beowulf, Reis (dragon), and Construct 8. Does the rumour only appear at the very beginning of Chapter 4? Do I have to effing start over and start cursing Square-Enix's bastard names?

EDIT: Disregard. Apparently you have to finish at Zeltennia before this rumour appears. -_- fuck that could have been easier to find (took like 30 minutes to find).

Is anyone else really impressed at the extra cutscenes they've included? I am.

What? It plays very little like FFTA(at least as different as an FFT game can be), with the exception of the ability learning system which is almost exactly the same(even the job system got some overhauls).  There are some Tactic Ogres similarities and plenty of new shit all around(the clan system is much deeper this time around).  Did you play past the first battle?

Nope. I meant graphically, anyway.

Ahh... well the sprites are almost exactly the same, but the battlefield looks much better(not as much as some people seem to think on the GameFAQs board though) as do the special effects.
