hahaha 75%?  what a naughty guy!

but yeah this is a pretty sketchy thing to warn over.  i mean, he just made a pretty valid and interesting observation and got his shit jumped for it because everyone in the topic are nuts over sf4 and hypersensitive apparently.  he's right, if this was finalfantasy17, drule would be agreeing, and probably the others as well.

that and honestly, we've had issues before with FANBOYISM. last time though it was more of a frightening maternal instinct with Nintendo. now it's sexualized and because I insulted a fighting game, the entire FIGHTING DOJO or whatever that subforum is came out to say "well that's just...that's just stupid", as if I had not taken a stance against circlejerking before.

As much as I love the Street Fighter series, I really need to agree with ned here. Putting all cliché sexual catch phrases aside for a minute, this really just is a movie that shows absolutely nothing about the game itself. We don't even know whether it will be 2D or 3D at this point. It's a cool movie, though, don't get me wrong about that; but it's only a movie, and you can tell there's no substantial knowledge about the game at this point just by looking at your replies.

Wake me up when they announce whether you can use varicoms in it.

ok good so weve discovered that being excited is ok but being sexually excited is not

stop posting about it and start just posting about the game again

a lot of people have been waiting to hear the words Street Fighter 4 officially for 8-10 years now, cause its a whole new iteration, it would be like having to wait 10 years for a new part of a book series you really like, etc. It seems Capcom is willing to listen to its community for once though, which is really great.

i know a lot of you haven't used it, but there is this thing called GGPO.net (Good Game, Peace Out) and what it is is a network code (with a service overlaid on top of it, but this is about the networking code) that hides the lag and frame + input delays so that they are not noticeable. You can play (and I know and have seen people who have) people on the other side of the world lagless. It's a really ingenious network code, made by 1 man, and it did something that a lot of people from an entire professional company couldn't.

if you want to show support for it go here http://www.capcom.com/BBS/showthread.php?t=20816 and say you think Capcom should take it, its really nice.

as for the game game itself, I just hope they dont have custom combos, custom combos has fucked up every game its every been in balance wise.

Not really. I don't see where you seem to get that idea. Most imbalanced fighters have problems with their character line-up. There are plenty of games in which varicoms are present, and the people who choose to use them aren't invincible. If not just for the fact that they're sometimes ridiculously difficult to consistently pull off.

In fact, it just so happens I have an AVI of the World Cyber Games 2003 Capcom vs SNK 2 final match. One of the players uses the C-groove (three super moves, like in Street Fighter Alpha 3 A-ism) and one who uses A-groove (like Street Fighter Alpha 3 V-ism). Guess who wins in the end?

cvs2 is a perfect example of a game slightly screwed by the Custom Combo, out of all the grooves 3 get used and the A groove is one of th ebest.

like cvs2 wasnt screwed as bad as other games that had it. cc's are too hard to balance and too gimmicky imo, i mean you're just building your meter and knocking your opponent up into the air or hit confirming so you can spam a couple moves for massive damage most of the time

like shit like this in SFA3: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UENxaorxtJ0

or crap that came from CC's that led to infinites like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vcr0Cl7L0LM

custom combos have yet to be done right, and needlessly overcomplicate the game with massive execution requirements that shut out beginner players neigh completely, and make the people who master it very kickass to the point where with some characters it is dumb to use a non-Custom Combo ISM/Groove. I think that for a new beginning of the Street Fighter franchise, espically when you look at the type of fighters we have now (land massive combos asap is all they are, look at Guilty Gear, Melty Blood, etc? They're massive combo games with tons of features that complicate the game needlessly like Roman Cancel, Burst, and all these features that while kind of original also make the game just that much harder for beginners to get into. If you have a hard fighting game, new people are going to mainly mash it out and never get better.

for a new beginning I think Capcom has to keep it simple and go back to what made ST great....2-in-1 combos, footsies, corner traps (if its a 2D game), and controlling the field, not super fancy shit land 137 hit combo hey im super cool. go back to a time where if you pulled off a 6 hit combo it was like "whooooah".

now and days a 6 combo is easy shit, i can do a 6 hit combo in melty blood by just hitting simple variations of button A, like c. A or s.A. Thats dumb. Its fancy and over the top but needlessly so. Theres a good reason Super Turbo is still being played in the really really big tournaments worldwide and a lot of games like SFA3 aren't. its simple but strategic, kind of like chess in that regard, and easy for beginners to get into but still has room for people to master stuff.

simple to learn, hard to master

not hard to learn, hard to master

EDIT:

to kind of showcase my point look at these 3 gameplay vids (both top players playing) of ST and Guilty Gear

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WHU9vPIQr5Y
This is ST, there is a lot of work on getting in on your opponent, zoning, 2-in-1s, footsies, corner traps (espically with O. Sagat)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=smmP4UwpDSU
This is MvC2, there is a lot of work on getting in on your opponent like ST, but its very complicated, with having to manage 3 characters, 3 characters worth of supers, characters going EVERY FUCKING WHERE, and its very difficult for a newbie to learn that crap. Though MvC2 is running pretty strong still.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lsl14ejGoCs
This is Guilty Gear. you'll notice its super fast, very flashy, and looks cool and is actually probably a bit more fun to watch from a spectator's point of view, but its very crazy, has super high hit combos. its all about the flash. Thats not to say it isn't strategic, its just very complicated and difficult, which is not what the Street Fighter franchise needs at this point espically after 10 years of its fans about ready to give up on it.

just imo, but I dont think they need to release a super complicated game at this point...we need to go back to basics.

edit edit: this was much longer than I wanted it to be.

Yun is top tier because he has ridiculous V-ism juggles. From what I hear people only just recently figured out some ways to counter V-ism in SFA3. SFA2 varicoms are a cruel joke.

They're not invincible, they're just unbalanced by design.

Quote from: Shade from SRK
http://www.gametrailers.com/player/26833.html

This is Christian Svensson (Sr. Director Strategic Planning & Research at Capcom) interviewed by GameTrailers.

He strongly hints that the trailer was more than a mere teaser at the 4th game, and gives indication to how the game may in fact, look.

He also mentions a few other things, including who the Producer on the project is [Yoshinori Ono], whom has been the Producer on CFJ, Chaos Legion, Shadow of Rome, and Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams.

Midway through he discusses some of the features in HD Remix, which I'm sure we can bet will be considered features to be included in IV's eventual home releases.

Booyah.....

I wonder who that art team is....hmmmmmmmm

Good stuff though.

dangerousned , where i choose to sexually arouse myself and with what is my business. I hope one day you can accept that and love me for who i am for I want to have sex with ryu and chun lee in a threesome. its not too hard to ask except for the obvious reason that they are fictional.  :fogetcry:!

but yeah i guess i get what you're trying to say but i usually just say what comes to my mind so its basically imo.

so does anyone have anymore info? what systems is this going to be on. im probably thinking arcade for sure and then all the new gens eh. i doubt they'd release this on the xbox/ps2

I thought it was interesting when they asked "so will it be 2D or 3D?" and the guy just kind of stood there for a second without an answer, and then saying that the trailer has hints or something along those lines... needless to say, Street Fighter certainly isn't going to be the same ol' tried and true fighter that it was before.

put it in the oven for an hour and you got street fighter!!!

Just kidding!

But yeah, I think they're gonna try and take the series somewhere new, which is alright with me.

I don't know what the HELL you guys are talking about for most of Page 2. That's kind of UFI, the whole orgasmic reaction thing. O_o I mean, really, who cares? Mellow! :D

Also: I don't particularially like Street Fighter, because I blow ass at combo games... especially when my sparring partner has all the shin-jo-ku-ken moves mastered to an art. Bleah.
However, this games looks hella tight. If it has that kind of style, I might just buy it to mess around it! And hey, maybe they'll base a Puzzle Fighter game on it! :D (of which I'm undefeated.)

Street Fighter isn't a combo game, its a zoning and poke game.

Combo games are MBAC and Guilty Gear etc
