Yes, it's true! Comedian Stephen Colbert of The Colbert Report is running for President of the United States of America. He announced on the Daily Show a few days ago, this statement: "tonight, i, stephen colbert, am officially announcing that i have decided to officially consider whether or not i will announce that i am running for President of the United States." And then, on his own show, he officially said that he will be running.

Videos and information can be found here. More stuff is here, here, etc...

Discuss :colb:

EDIT: yeah i'm sure this isn't relevant for many of you dirty foreigneres :fogetmexican: but Stephen Colbert is pretty well known in the USA for his show, The Colbert Report.

that's pretty funny honestly. I'm kind of surprised no one has done a serious bid like that; even though Reagan was a B-movie star, you'd think more people would have gone the Arnold route to politics.

I guess they have more faith in the American people though!

also he's joking btw in case anyone didn't get it.

well yeah he's joking, duhh. it's pretty much just to get more attention for his show, which seems to be working and will continue to work.

Man, those videos were really hilarious! Stephen Colbert is a pretty funny guy!

However, if he was truthfully running for President and people seriously voted for him  (I'm assuming the 18-25 age group) it would be quite sad.

Didn't he see Man of the Year?  This debacle will be advertised like a comedy but in actuality be a political thriller.

When I saw that movie, I recognized the cell-phone that chick had, and it was my own. I got a different phone now, but it was pretty funny back then.

It seems like he's only running in his home state though, which is a shame. This is the first election where I am old enough to vote.

hahaha steel

Also I really hope he somehow wins the ticket! Stephen Colbert as a Republican president would be the most absurd thing to ever happen to politics! (not really)

i'm pretty sure he said he was running as republican AND democrat. and i'm confused about the whole "only running in North Carolina" thing, i've seen different meanings for what he's talking about in different places. hm.

Not as sad as voting for a Republican, imo. "I BELIEVES IN CREATIONISM."
