holy shit, this is the world's worst anecdote.
You had to be there.  Man that must have been FUCKING HILARIOUS.

I love reading the articles about Colbert running for President because everything he says is a joke.  It would be so great to have a president who cracks jokes during his speeches while coming across as pretty intelligent.

I've never seen the colbert report (because it doesn't screen here), but if he can pick apart presidential mistakes as quickly as they show (they show the daily show here) then he'd probably be a fairly excellent politician.

I don't like the idea of a puppet of the entertainment industry having his finger on the button though.

Hmm, guess I should have explained the humorous situation the female character in the movie was experiencing due to her cell phone. (It's my fault for assuming people who haven't seen the movie would read my anecdote and comment on it)

Oh well, you live you learn.

i'm pretty sure he said he was running as republican AND democrat. and i'm confused about the whole "only running in North Carolina" thing, i've seen different meanings for what he's talking about in different places. hm.

If you watch his explaination on Tuesday's episode it kind of explains it more.   (As I said earlier, you can just watch the show online at comedycentral.com)   Basically he is running as a political "favorite son," which is someone who is expected to gain a lot of support within the home state of the politian, but to gain little coverage elsewhere in the country.

I think the fact that he didn't put his legal name on the documents might automatically disqualify him?

I'm watching a news report on this right this second and while he is making people laugh over this, he IS serious and IS working to get on the state ballot.

Honestly, I think he would win the elction out of favorites...
Did you guys see that Hungarian bridge thing? Over 7,000,000(supposedly) people voted for his name to be put on the bridge.
He's got some 'followers,' but the question remains: Sure they'll vote for his name for a bridge, but will they vote for him during his presidential candidacy?

If he's only running in one state, he can't be president. :)

Of course he'll probably win in his home state. That guy is more popular than anyone I know right now. His fans will do ANYTHING he says.

Honestly, I think he would make a great serious candidate. He is already very much into looking into political attitudes, hes not naive to political messages, and I think he is considerate to a more global view. Hes a much better choice than an actor anyway.

His show pays more than that. He won't go for it.

Can't wait to see what happens though. I wonder if the other politicians will bitch about not having enough campaign advertisement time as he. Watch as all the republicans scramble to re-enact the Fairness Doctrine.

oh for fuck's sake medieve you are nuts.

he's a fucking actor who reads lines that writers write for him and he's very talented but just because internet people love him and voted a bridge to be named after him doesn't mean this is anything close to a serious bid and more than publicity.

everyone who seriously votes for him is a tool!

I would vote for him just to protest how shitty the election system/all of the other candidates are.

This. But then I think a comedian would make a great president, anyways.
