alright so, i've been using the earbuds that came with my zune for a while now in my portable shit, and i'm getting really fed up with them.  maybe it is just me, but my ear shape is personally awful for earbuds, and it seems like i can't make even the slightest head movement without one coming loose, which has an annoying effect on the balance of the sound, not to mention the fact that every few seconds i have to reach up and readjust them.  soooo i'm thinking i need a new pair of headphones, and i thought i'd seek help.  ideal qualifications are as follows:

-over the ear
-cord no longer than 3 feet.  MAYBE 3 1/2 feet at most.  these seem to be annoyingly rare among non-earbud headphones.
-not crazily expensive (i cannot justify spending like $120 on headphones to myself even if the sound quality is incredible and i'd really like a pair of those insane bose ones!).  preferably $75 as most.

so yeah, basically i am looking for an over the ear pair of headphones that don't have some unnecessarily long 10' cord, since i'd be using these for either an mp3 player or a psp and do not want to have to deal with figuring out what to do with 7' of extra cord wherever i go, and that don't cost too much.  the over the ear part is necessary because as i said, earbuds don't fit my ears at all, and other types (the kind that attach onto your ears, and all those other kinds of regular ones they usually package with cd players that you simply place on top of your ears) usually hurt after a while of wearing them, and have shitty sound to boot.  over the ears seem to have the best sound, and are always fairly comfortable, plus i don't have to worry about them not fitting well.

but anyway, anyone know of a good pair that fit those stipulations?  over the ear (or something else that doesn't fit into the two types i said i disliked), short cord, and under $100?  something like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826109153 but maybe about half that price.  thanks!

ive only ever used the squishy in-ear ear-shape-expanding ones, so i can't help, but uh you say you can't use earbuds (those are the solid in-ear cheapy shit sold with the product, ya?) have you tried the squishy noise-cancelling in ear ones? i don't see how they couldn't fit any ear because.. well.. they change shape depending on your ear. and most come with a few different sized squishy bud things, too.

uh, if that's what you meant by earbuds then sorry lol.

ps you are going to look really cool with your psp attatched to a giant pair of headphones on the "sub way"

i use purely these. they last about 2-4 months per pair, but they are so cheap it is a lot better than buying one £60 that lasts for a year.

if you can find them cheap in your foreign countries i heavily suggest them, but other than that all i can say is AVOID SONY because their squishy earbud things fucking suck. the bud is tiny (even the bigger size) and the cable ACTUALLY MELTS because it is some dumb plastic rubber shit.

The ones I have are also Koss headphones and are over the ear, and I love them entirely.  I don't know how long the cord is but it's not THAT long, and it has a volume control on the cord, but not a big bulky one.  I found them at Walmart for a very very cheap price, which is why I bought them, and I never regretted it.  They were way better than the expensive ones that broke that they were replacing.

It's either these:  http://www.amazon.co.uk/Koss-151803-Tv-21-headphones/dp/B000G0LKW6/ref=sr_1_8/026-4711668-9898069?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1193751284&sr=1-8

Or a pair that looks exactly like them.  Just look around for Koss headphones that look like this.  If I had them with me (left them at home last time I went down for a weekend) I'd see if I could find a model number.  My friend got the exact same pair when I did though so maybe I can check hers.

Most of the cheaper end Sony headphones blow (don't get anything under $30 if you're going Sony).

I've owned 2 pairs of Sennheiser headphones and my friend purchase a 20$ pair of earbuds from them. You really do get great sound quality with Sennheiser and usually their products are very comfortable.

Also make sure you are well informed about the different kinds of around-the-ear headphones. It may influence your purchase (noise canceling vs better sound quality but sound leaking)

These are what I currently own. The sound quality isn't SO MUCH BETTER than their $40 phones but the bass kicks ass. Best sound quality I've heard, no doubt, but their $40 headphones sound really good as well. They're behemoths though and leak sound to the outside world like a broken faucet (but a good sounding broken faucet).

EDIT: Also Bose makes shitty headphones dude don't let them sucker you into their marketing scam.

i have 2 pairs of these and they are seriously the best headphones/earbuds i've ever used http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826159204

they come with 3 different plastic squishy things so they can be adjusted. They sit very deep in your ear, like you have to "slide" them into your ear canal, which is cool because it TOTALLY blocks out other sounds, although you do have to be careful with volumes because it's so close to your eardrum you can cause some damage. These fucking things have a frequency range that goes down to 6Hz! there is so much bass on these things, i tell you. They are amazing. They're actually cheaper than when i got them, too.
yes coulombs are "germaine", did you learn that word at talk like a dick school?

Those are the best headphones I've ever used; their cord might be a little too long for you but I never remember it being too bad.

thanks fellas.  i actually only got to read jester's reply before i went to work this morning, so i stopped at an fye after i got off and bought a pair of $10 SKULLMASTER or some shit brand in-ear earbuds that are basically identical to what goldenratio suggested, and i am pretty happy with them.  they're really sturdy in my ears and even shaking my head violently does not move them out of place even slightly, and the in-ear component really does produce a full, excellent sound.  the only thing i do not especially care for is how they kind of screw with the pressure in my head, it feels like.  like putting them in and taking them out causes my ears to pop, and leaving them in brings on a mild but sort of annoying sense of pressure in my head that feels almost like a sinus headache.  still, i like them!  if i for any reason get sick of them, i'll look into some of the other ones you suggested.

yeah, they do feel weird until you get used to them. i used to have to take them out every half our or so just for a while but now i can use them all day

keep your ears clean if you use them a lot, though. they increase sweat and wax in your ear and can fuck them up bad if you dont clean them out a lot.

hey I was just going to come in here and suggest SkullCandy in-ear noise-canceling headphones because they are AMAZING for the price (I got them for like $15 at fye) and they've lasted me quite a few months, but looks like youve already done it! Enjoy

edit: oh snap you got them at fye too
