Famitsu gave 40/40? Has a fightning game ever recieved that score?
Also, I don't trust japanese magazines when Nintendo rule its country.

Pffs... then release the damn game, Nintendo!

Famitsu loves Nintendo and gives all of Nintendo's games good scores!!

famitsu is only good for certain things, but they are obviously biased on others

like they give all gundam games hella good scores

even that shitty release one for the PS3 got good scores and that game was TERRIBAD

yeah it's sad. Famitsu used to be the most legit magazine ever, because they had been around for fucking ever (1986) and had given like ZERO GAMES 40s, and now they've given, what, Nintendogs, didn't Wind Waker get one, this game...

Quote
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (1998, Nintendo, for Nintendo 64)
Soulcalibur (1999, Namco, for Dreamcast)
Vagrant Story (2000, Square Co., Ltd., for PlayStation)
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker (2003, Nintendo for Nintendo GameCube)
Nintendogs (2005, Nintendo, for Nintendo DS)
Final Fantasy XII (2006, Square Enix, for PlayStation 2)
Super Smash Bros. Brawl (2008, Nintendo, for Wii

so yeah they've given another fighting game a 40, and apparently there is a lot of criticism that they raised scores in recent years.

Wind Waker was a damn good game (maybe not 40 good, but it's up there). I don't get how Nintendogs got a 40 though.

The Japanese have different tastes in games than we do. That's why RPGs usually get amazing reviews there but games like GTA and FPSs get shitty ones. Could explain why Gundam games always get good scores.

Wind Waker was charming, but 40/40 only proves that Famitsu is I (heart) Nintendo. .
That game was basically three dungeons and several hours of looking for triforce pieaces to make up for the otherwise VERY short playtime.

Poo I say...

I trust this review, even though Famitsu does love Nintendo. Melee got a 37/40 and it was damn good. Brawl has more of everything (more characters, stages, better single-player, online, etc.) so I'd say this review is fairly reliable.

well I'm just saying it doesn't mean as much as it did when it was first done.

it's probably a good game but yeah Famitsu no longer holds the "m...my god...the...reviews..." that it used to.

My understanding is that Famitsu gives games a 38 or so if they're guaranteed million sellers, but a 40 is still reserved for when they actually exceed expectations, and even with their relaxed criteria, they've still only ever had like nine games with a perfect score. So a 40 is still pretty nice. I can't imagine anyone's really surprised that SSBB got a great review, though. It'll probably get pretty similar scores from every place that reviews it.

But yeah, Famitsu says SSBB is an excellent game. I am Jack's complete lack of surprise.

Because it was far and away the best pet simulator ever made at that point by an indisputable margain.  Famitsu's position is that a perfect game is one that is the best example of a game in that genre up until that point.

Also, it was really fun anyway.

Some awesome Captain Olimar footage (including what I guess is his Final Smash) and Mario drop kicking people.
I don't know if there is a youtube rip yet.

Awesome find. Captain Olimar's final smash is exactly what I imagined. Too bad they don't show more of him though. I can't tell if he's quick or not. He seems to have Mario's speed.

They put olimar's final smash up on the dojo now, and it looks a lot more powerful than the video made it out to be.. being only very short and all...

I'm hoping everyone stays from Melee, excluding Ness and the clones. I hated Mewtwo, but he made for a good enemy.

I have to say though, if it came between Lucario and Mewtwo, I'd pick Lucario.

Also, Mewtwo would definitely fit in the Subspace Emissary as a badguy along with Wario n Bowser.

I love most of the clones. Link was slow, but Young Link was perfect. I can kick some ass with him. Fox I didn't like much, but Falco is awesome (SHFFLD DAirs kick ass). Dr. Mario was better than Mario because his pills are much more useful than Mario's fireballs. Ganondorf I never played much, but there's a damn good chance he's coming back.

I think Ganondorf and Falco are returning from the clones, but with different movesets. Everyone else is pretty much gone IMO. And I don't even know who the fuck Lucario is, but I'm guessing Mewtwo has a 50/50 chance of coming back.

Cool update, but nothing very new, really. That's better than nothing, though!

I hated the clones. Obviously Falco and Fox and Mario and Dr. Mario and Link and Young Link and Pikachu and Pichu, etc, had some small differences, but... Ugh. I have a feeling Sakurai had the same thought, and it seems like he's replacing the clones with original characters. Hopefully one or two of the previous clones (Ganondorf, Falco) will return as originals, though.
