Well, i'm pretty sure I heard somewhere that Snake is a secret character, so we really can't be sure.

I knew most of this, except there BETTER be a option to turn Pity Smashes off. I'm the best out of my friends and I don't want any stupid AWESOME COMEBACKS or whatever because they sucked and I rocked.

Dude, what are you talking about? That's the whole point. It makes the matches way more exciting. Where's the fun in walloping someone who's not as good as you?

...now beating someone who's a lot better than you, or being beaten by someone you'd never expect to be beaten by....that's what makes the whole thing interesting.

Yeah, that's exactly it. Because his friends aren't having fun while playing him. They're bored but they keep playing anyways.

i believe shadowtext was trying to amplify the point that people tend to have more fun when they arent being trounced with no hope of getting any smashes at all

pity smash balls solve this and add fun to the game but obviously that isnt a good thing because it might mean cheesy doritos would get smashed once or twice!!

I'm siding with Cheesy on this one, if only because of one particular thing;
I wouldn't want to be Pity smashed when both me and my opponent are on a
similar level.

Sure, when one player is a lot better than the other, pity smashes might make
things more interesting. But when I'm playing someone on equal grounds, I want
a battle that's made of skill and a good use of items*. Losing because my opponent
got a Pity smash, that's just ridiculous.

*Non-overkill items, of course.*

The pity-smashes only activate when someone has a large lead, so they still probably won't beat you at all with that one smash, but rather, it gives players who are down on their luck to keep performing well, as they get a bigger chance for a comeback.  If two people are on the same level, they should be getting around the same amount of kills, so their probably won't be any pity smashes then.

Man i'm sorry but if i'm all hyped up and PUMPED I don't want no goddamn pity smashes getting my lead down. Most of my friends are at my level, just I usually have the edge. It would suck if i'm doing awesome and then some gay thing blows a bunch of angels out of the sky or something and I die. Obviously it adds a twist, it could be fun to use, etc, but honestly i'd rather keep it out. It's not like i'm trying to make my friends commit suicide from losing too much or anything (maybe)!

Hearing you idiots going on about skill in Smash Bros. made me laugh out loud (or LOL as some twats may say). There's no skill. It's a game of button mashing and random power ups. Skill? Hahahahah! You guys are hilarious!

*disregards Grindie's afront*

I think Penguin is right.  The Pity Smashes only go to players that are really behind.  So, if both players are performing well, neither one will get a Pity Smash.  This is probably bad news for four-stockers, but otherwise I don't really see it being a problem.

Unless Penguin's wrong, and person in last gets Pity Smashes randomly.  Then that would totally suck.

Guys, it isn't that hard to understand.  And stop saying that, "OH NO! I WON'T ALWAYS BEAT MY FRIENDS ANYMORE!"  It is just a game, not real life fighting.

So some people would prefer pity smashes off. Big deal.

Aside from Smash Balls themselves, I'll probly play with items, pkballs, and pity smashes off too, assuming it's customizable (They really have thought of everything, remember?)

In more important news, it seems like King Dedede's Final Smash isn't ridiculously overpowered!
I think it looks quite fun, really.

I was hoping for something a little more interesting from Dedede, but I can live with this.  Waddles...EVERYWHERE!!!  I wonder if they move/attack like Marill...

I was hopeing Dedede's final smash would have something to do with him being possesed by Dark Matter since it has happened in so many games. But I s'pose this one plays more off his personality.

Hahaha. Wow. I guess the chances of me discovering ANYTHING for myself in the game is now slim to nil, eh?

I bet you will be able to turn Pity Smash off if you want to. Does everyone forget Custom Melee?
