Try 3.  I don't know if it could be classifed as indie, but alot of their earlier stuff could be methinks.

but, yeah, 3 is my favorite band, and I hope you might like them too,.

Actually, this is a great time for you to start listening to new genres.  Try electronica or reggae.  I suggest start out with Four Tet.

don't listen to explosions in the sky unless you're going to bother with the post-rock genre, and even then I'd start at the core with bands like mogwai, gy!be and tortoise. they've got nothing to do with the taste you've stated though
also since someone suggested feist and you said you did not have a problem with her (and i assume female vocalists) i would also say metric.  they are probably a bit more ROCKy anyway which might be more to your liking.  and husky rescue which i do not know if you've heard of but they are pretty cool too.
