Do we really need these types of threads?  I know how many units something sells is important to the financial success of any product, but does these numbers really promote any sort of discussion other than, "Oh hey, that sold well?"  These numbers also are not an sort of indication of the quality of the product being sold either, so really, what is the point?

To some people, the video game industry is like a sport.  The different consoles, or companies are like sports teams - the games are the individual players.  And the sales numbers are like the scores to games.  This may sound incredibly geeky but I believe it is analogous.  It promotes the same kind of discussion, interest, and enthusiasm.

DarkNecrid, can you tone down the Wii fanboyism a bit, please? As Christophomicus said: "let's just stop this."

Everyone knows the 360 is the best console (except for the PS2 and the N64 and the SNES).
