I wouldn't usually make two News topics in a row but I think this is PRETTY BIG NEWS enough to be deserving of a topic.

Source: Total Film

I don't think I have ever seen Mark Wahlberg with stubble. I have no grievances against Mark Wahlberg or any reason to think he shouldn't play the part other than the fact I don't think he is really Max Payne material. Off the topic of CASTING NEWS, what's everyone's opinion on another videogame to movie adaptation? We have Halo on the way, More recently we've had Silent Hill and Resident Evil (which really went from strength to strength didn't it.)

I'd comment on direction but John Moore?  :fogetpout:

I think it could be worse, to be honest. If they do the makeup and costumes well he could play a good Max Payne, or at least one that won't infuriate the general populace.

As far as videogame to film adaptions go I'm usually not a big fan, but Max Payne seems almost made for one. It could be really good if done right - the noir style seems to lend itself to the film medium well.

Yeah but really? Do you think the guy who did the Omen remake could pull it off? Anyway, as I said I have nothing against MW as an actor, I think he is a great actor but I don't think he carries the Max Payne look. He doesn't have that sunken chiseled face, I've never seen him with stubble and his hair is too wavy. I think it will take a lot for him to pull it off.

I heard this a week or so ago and it really upset me.  I don't want this douchebag playing one of my favorite characters ever:
Admiral Robert E Lee: From an alternate reality in which the United States is an archipelago and the Civil War is fought at sea.

To be honest, him and the character seem to really go together.

And I wouldn't count out a director until you see some evidence. The director of Stuart Little 2 is currently actually making the upcoming Jet Li/Jackie Chan traversty look good, so you can never be sure.

The production company chose him for a reason.

But until the footage/evidence is produced I can judge a director from their previous work. And I don't put a lot of trust in production companies choices anyway as for them the primary objective is usually MAKE MONEY:SAVE MONEY RATIO.

you guys have no vision at all.

actually Max Payne 1's face is very similar to this actor whose name I don't know (he's more of a second/third line actor)

anyway makeup and a blue tone filter helps a lot

well, his face looks like it's been hit several times with a fire extinguisher most of the time

ps:

but they mainly look alike because they're pulling the same facial expression

I was excited when I saw that the Max Payne movie (that has been talked about but never has really happened) was on the pre-strike hollywood production list. It came as a complete suprise to me since I haven't really seen or heard anything about the movie since the rights were aqured ages ago. Max Payne is a game nicely suited for the screen though I wonder just what aspect they'll throw in. Will they remake one of the games or just do an unrelated story about Payne?

Mark Wahlberg seems as good a match as any to me. He's had plenty of Cop roles lately and can probably do the part nicely. Looking at the director's past films it seems like he's fairly good at churning out what people tell him to. It won't be a great film by any means but it'll be a decent action film and I'll probably see it.

Hey, he looks like he fits, seems like a good choice to me. Of course, anyone who can pull off that "shitting the biggest fucking shit I ever shat" expression looks like Payne if you put a leather jacket on him.

Jason Statham should play him though. Just watched him in Crank, give him some hair and he's got the attitude, the personality and more style than Payne ever had, plus he doesn't need bullet time to do cool shit.

This guy has done a few game-to-movie adaptations, and they've all been flops, apparently. At least he's not directing.
I gotta say, though, these game-movies kinda suck... In my opinion.
For example, the new Hitman Movie looks a little over actionized. Jumping out of a window to escape an explosion is not very 'Hitman-esque.' I suppose, though, that I'm a little picky.
I suppose we can expect a Splinter Cell pretty soon. Maybe even a Rayman and Megaman movie. Why not a live-action Sonic The Hedgehog using real talking hedgehogs?

This is all in my opinion.
Wahlberg seems to fit the role surprisingly well. A 5 o'clock shadow, a leather jacket, and a few guns and you have yourself a Max Payne.

this is not a game turned into movie.
This is a re-adaptation of Payback.

also everybody knows about Uwe Boll, son
