You may have noticed that I have not been so active lately, which is due to some RL problems I have, this is not the reason for my depart though.
It turns out that my internet connection has expired and my parents don't really want me to have internet at home because I AM ADDICTED TO COMPUTERS LOL or so they say. Yeah. I guess I will be gone for at least a week, maybe two or even three(which is really bad since I don't want to miss the christmas GW6 launch ).

See you later Gaming World! (Merry Christmas in advance)

I highly doubt he will ever thank his parents for disconnecting him from the most powerful source of knowledge and education in the world. HEY SON, YOUR MOTHER AND I HAVE BEEN TALKING ABOUT THIS FOR A WHILE NOW BUT WE WOULD LIKE YOU TO BE AN IDIOT. My parents have always been pissed off when they hear about such and such parents preventing their kids from using the computer.

I'm not sure what to comment. While Jeff is right, i can't help wondering whether fatty really stays too much at comp.

... but cutting the whole fucking internet? I wouldn't buy that. Even timelimit, computer restriction or lesser use of internet is a better choice than cutting the whole thing altogether. So yeah, nodding with Jeff.

Not using the Internet has nothing to do with being an idiot. Yes, the Internet is incredibly powerful, but it can be abused like anything else, and if something is being abused, it makes sense to limit it. If taking a break from the computer (and doing CRA-ZY, unspeakable things like reading books, going outside, and interacting with people!) is the action that his parents (or him) decide to take, it can work out for the best.

On that note, good luck, and peace out (for now), fatty.

The internet is interacting with people. I wouldn't go outside much even if the internet was taken away from me, some people are just not outside people. And last, I don't recall the internet ever taking away motivation to read books, in fact, the more I search the internet, the more I realize that if you don't read the cited material, you may never get a clear or unique perspective on the topic. There is no reason in existence for someone to be forcibly cut off from such a powerful tool. It is akin to saying to whoever cooks your meals "you use the stove too much, you are addicted to it, I am taking it away, cook with an open fire from now on". It is denying you technology for no good reason other than the fact that you use it.

You're not getting what I'm saying. The Internet as a 'powerful tool' only applies if the user is actually USING the Internet as a powerful tool. If they're just abusing it, wasting time with it, or if it's cutting into other life matters, then they need to pull themselves away from it. Take my younger brother for instance. All he did on the Internet was play games, watch porn, and just dicked around on the internet, ALL DAY. Didn't do his chores, didn't do his homework, didn't do too much of anything. So my folks took away his Internet privileges, with the small exception of school projects. No matter how powerful a tool is, if you abuse it, you need to limit yourself to it.

Yes, the Internet is important. For information, entertainment, etc. BUT: Life doesn't revolve around the computer. and I hope you guys will realize this. Unless you are going to become successful computer programmer / Bill Gates / etc, not going outside and staying at home most of the time won't help you at all. So, that's why many parents think removing the Internet is a good way of discipline for computer "addicts", and I completely understand.

Anywho, if you beg your parents enough they might get it back for you. ;) Or, you could prove them wrong by studying hard and show them some changes.
