I always thought Speed Racer was old school, no actually I'm pretty sure it was, that's why this surprised me a lot, and they should have given the role to Shia Le.. whatever his name is, the guy from Transformers and Disturbia.

Uh, Shia LeBouf would have sucked ass as Speed Racer. Emile Hirsch is incredible, as seen in the trailer.

Also, I don't see how the Wachowski Brother's are ruining Speed Racer. It's not like they redesigned the whole series. They have all the characters and classic costumes. This is a retro future film.

I saw that they were making this movie last year or a few months ago or something---anyway... it's just damn funny. I mean, you can't make Speed Racer cool. He's a tool, and the cartoon was completely terrible (why it was anyway near good is the "terrible in a funny way" genre). Now here's this. Ha ha ha, looks like F-Zero for Game cube or something when they're racing. Not like that hilariously bad cartoon at all.
Still, I WILL see this in theatres. It's going to be hilarious.

NO.  Producers need to stop putting Shia into anything because he's an awful actor.

Emile Hirsch looks EXACTLY like Speed Racer from the series, so he's perfect.

Anyway, every trailer I've seen for this has made me more excited.  Matthew Fox looks awesome as Racer X, and I think he's going to be one of the best parts of this movie (for us Lost fans at least).  It'll be cool seeing him go from a serious role to something that is meant to be over-the-top. 

As much as I don't trust the Wachowski Brothers, I do think this is right up their alley.
