Hey here are my specs:

Abit Kn9 nforce 4 ultra
AMD 5000+ X2 stock @2.6ghz
Geforce 8800 GTS 320MB (EVGA)
1.5GB DDR2 PC 5400

I'm unsure how to achieve an OC with this setup. I've tried Ntune but it doesn't really do anything and manually clocking from the bios starts up and it just says "fuck off i'm not starting up until you set your clock multiplier to what it was prevously, MATE".

Can anyone help enlighten a OC novice?

you have the same processor as me, but I just overclocked mine in the bios settings.

it's running stable at 3.1ghz.

Because you have an nvidia card I would recommend just getting nTune. It's by Nvidia so yeah, probably your safest bet.

make sure you have adequate cooling, and remember to increase the clock speed in small increments.

I feel obliged to state that overclocking can be very dangerous to your system, and may shorten the lifespan of your device(s) for the sake of only a few extra frames.
