I downloaded Alcohol 120 from the Happy Zoo and at the end of the installation I was asked if I wanted to install a new driver. I was advised not to but I just figured it was Vista being over-protective again so I went ahead. Problem is, as soon as I did this a blue screen came up and restarted my computer. Now every time I start my computer the driver tries to install itself again and the same thing happens. It all happens in the space of a few seconds so I never have enough time to try and fix it before it restarts.

It wouldn't be too big of a loss if I had to format my hard drive but any ideas would be appreciated.

Hit F8 while your computer is booting (after the post screen) and select "Safe Mode". Then uninstall the driver and restart normally.

Worst comes to worst you would have to reinstall windows, and still have all your data on the drive. But this problem should be able to be taken care of through safe mode, if not with manual uninstall perhaps with a drive cleaner/startup entry editor utility.

The same thing happens in safe mode as well.

Even under the administrator account? I've seen systems pretty incapacitated after installing daemon tools, but I was usually able to take care of it by going into safe mode and removing it from the services listing. If you still can't get in, I would say a reinstall of windows would be in order. Not a big loss because all your files will still be there. Just choose to overwrite the existing operating system, and leave the file system "as is" and don't format it. All your programs and saved files will still be there, but you'll have to reinstall a good portion of them to get them to work on the new OS install.
