you dumped a link, "discuss" and then trod out the stupid "heh lazy people" shit. seriously what were you thinking when you made this? this forum has actually been pretty good about not having these topics lately. they are completely pointless. if you actually gave a shit and wanted to talk about this, then you would have put a modicum of effort into the topic. but you don't, and really all you want is to make a  topic so you can come back and see that you've gotten replies. and the replies can only really be "this is so awful", because there isn't anything else we can say, and there's nothing we can do to help. since you have provided no basis for discussion and it's been proven over and over again that we don't come up with discussion on our own in these topics, all this is going to do is lower someone's mood.

Yes, I 'dumped' a link, because I thought it might be of some interest to some people. The "for lazy people" was just a joke, so I don't really see a need to call it 'shit' or act like it was anything but for mild comedic purposes. What was I thinking when I made this? Well, I thought it was interesting, because it is pretty unusual circumstances. Usually you don't see approximately fifty people beat down a guy for filming for over five minutes. And so my question is really: "Seriously, what were they thinking when they did that?" I'm unaware of what you mean by 'these topics,' so please elaborate. Do I care about this individual? Not particularly. I don't know him. I mean, I find it pretty shocking due to the circumstances and I wouldn't wish that on anyone. I would like to discuss the topic, though. I do not make topics just to see that I've gotten replies. I obviously view replies as a positive thing, though. Replies are the other half of the conversation, and I wouldn't like to just be shouting at my friends while they just stand there and stare blankly. The replies can transcend just "this is awful" as I think is demonstrated in some ways in Jester's post, but if I am the only one that feels this, then I think this should be locked immediately and I should be warned (at least verbally, but more appropriately with an actual warning) for starting "meaningless" topics. And, again, as you say, if all this is going to do is lower someone's mood and--apparently--give me giggles because someone replied to a topic I made (which really has little to do with me as much as the article IN the topic) then warn me and lock it.

Well, I was actually on my way into the shower, but I guess that's no excuse for not putting sufficient effort into the original post. My main concern, personally, is the shocking circumstances that occur in this sort of mob mentality. It is a chilling reminder of the Kitty Genovese case, however these people were even active in the beating!

This does enlighten me to certain circumstances on the board though, and whether or not that was the intention of your post, jamicus, it has brought some things to my attention. I cannot help but wonder though, if I did, indeed, just post it to get replies. There is obviously something to feel in the acceptance of people you are frequently around; I don't know of anyone personally who desires to be unpopular (although if such people exist, I probably wouldn't know them because of that). So maybe I did do it for just that. And if that is the case, I need to be warned and this needs to be locked.

EDIT: And yes, I am aware I suggest warning and/or locking the topic multiple times!
