For those of you who had a Dreamcast and loved SHMUPS, you've probably heard of Bangai-O, a Treasure game that quickly fell into their "overshadowed" corner alongside Mcdonald's Treasureland Adventure and Light Crusader.  For those that didn't play it, Bangai-O was one of the most obnoxious, loud, and tongue in cheek bullet hell games.  It was like reliving every missile scene in Macross put together.

Bangai-O Spirits is an original game for the DS but it takes a puzzle turn.  It's still big and flashy, but the focus is on "smart" shooting rather than LOL MASH FIRE BUTTON.  Still, it looks pretty fantastic and it has an english release 2nd quarter of this year.

screenshots are found here

The game also has online 2-player and a map maker.  Yep.

This looks pretty amazing.

Definitely got to get this at some point.  Will probably get thrown into my collection of AWESOME GAMES MADE BY TREASURE although I suppose the awesome part is entirely unnecessary.

I'm totally pumped for this. I was trying to get ahold of the N64 version of Bangai-O for a long time and gave up (the emulators never supported it, and importing would've probably cost $9,027). I'll definitely pick up the DS version.

I think I'd be a fool not to buy this. I've never played the original but Treasure produces nothing but solid gold and I love shmups so.

I did what I could to look at and interpret this game, but the screenshots are so crammed full of bullets and explosions it's impossible for me to have even the slightest clue what makes this game special, other than "you can never win"
It looks like asteroids, but with mechs, and a million bullets to ensure you don't survive for more than a minute.

Ever played a game by Treasure? Then you should have some idea. If not, see Doozer's post.

9,027 is an awesome number

Also I thought this was going to be some stupid anime fighting game with Bandai characters but this actually looks pretty cool - still annoys me that everything in the world but Mother 3 makes it to the US somehow - but this is more like one of those games you wouldn't expect to get imported so this is cool too

Also Game Watch is the most boring-looking website on the face of the earth
