Soul Calibur has made some of the most impressive fighters ever created, since mortal combat. Nothing is more amusing than chicks, dudes, and big hulking monstrosities fighting to the death with a plethora of midevil weaponry. This tradition changes with Soul Calibur: Legends on the wii which game critics dub "The worst SC game ever made"(exept Game Trailers, they called it "Decent"). Well dispite the crappy to average reviews, i was somewhat interusted. I went to my friends house once and he had the game, and I had some game time with it and I think the game was fairly good.

Concept: Unlike all the other SC games, legends is an action adventure. Its a good experiment but there are a couple of bad things about it. Lets start with positives, character and enemy models are beautiful. Landscapes are pretty nice themselves sometimes from grassy mountain sides, to blizzard snow lands. Now for the bad, and it will stand out the most, LEVELS AND ENEMIES WILL REPEAT CONSISTANTLY. Now for most games this could be a bad thing but since this is their first SC based action adventure, its understandable but it will still frustrate players at times. Somthing that ticked me off the most, LEVELS ARE TOO LINEAR! No excuse for laziness namco-bandai, extremely linear levels suck and you all know it!

Story: Now i do not own this game, so feel free to correct me. I have played it enough to know this: The story revolves around Sigfried, otherwise known as "Nightmare". He must collect the soul shards in order to restore the soul edge to it's former power. Little does he know, he little by little is being consumed by darkness. Odviously other characters will be there, six others to be exact including sigfried making seven. This includes Ivy, Sophitia, Mitzaruki, Asteroth, Taki, and Lloyd Ivring (Yes he is there as a playable character cameo, i was suprised myselve and he is one of the best.) and of course other SC characters might appear but non-playable such as cervantes. I like the story so i dont have a problem with it.

Playability: This plays like a hack n slash, with less button mashing, more or less more arm flailing. While its creative it will easily give players arm sores if done for too long. At the same time its like an RPG also as you can gain EXP and level your character up as you hack your way through waves of enemies. Enemies are creative but dont be suprised if you see the same ones constantly. There are, however a couple of enormous bosses sometimes that are just fun to fight and would almost make it epic, if it wasent for constant arm flailing. Now there is a 2 player mode thrown in there, but trust me this game is quite annoying if sharing the same screen with a buddy so its worth playing alone.

Bottem line: SC:Legends is a welcome addition to the SC universe, but it just lacks the relif you get after playing for hours. If you like SC, then sure pick it up but be warned you might not feel at home with this game.

7/10 Solid Game

To be honest Soul Calibur legends could have been great if they used the story of the 2nd or 1st(Heard the first is best) to make an Rpg, not some Dynasty Warriors style game, just reminds me of Dirge Of Cerberus(MY GOD how they butchered Final Fantasy VII). Could have been better.. looks fun though!

dynasty warriors psp games are not so bad but legends is kind of like it, minus the crowds of enemies.
its a fine game if you are looking for a good hack n slash on the wii :)

I haven't heard much good on this game from those who have played it, but many of their complaints have more to do with it simply not being a fighting game than any decent commentary on the game itself.  After Dragonblade: Wrath of Fire (which was decent, but definitely a bit lacking in areas) I was looking forward to seeing how Soul Calibur Legends and Rygar compare. When I find the time I plan to at least rent SCL, but it was at one point going to be something I picked up around the holidays but I ended up opting for Tomb Raider Anniversary instead.
