i've come into this topic thinking it was winding down like five times and finding out BY THE WAY, IT'S GETTING BIGGER.

i know the tales of games execs probably cringe at this kind of talk, but gamespot is about as mainstream as videogame websites get so it is quite a big deal that it's on there. plus it's getting hosted, the guy said, so maybe there are quite a lot of people who are still gonna play this.

The video of the show usually goes up around 8pm (pacific) give or take a bit. Sounds like the people in the chat enjoyed the demo. The game has sure caused a splash in the office. Everyone was crowding around my desk while I played it.

McLovin, certainly you don't want something as horrible as one of our autographs. You should reach for the stars and try to get the autograph of someone more well-known, like maybe the "Dude, you're getting a Dell" guy or something. :)

Thanks for featuring Barkley on your show!!! I mean it mustve been hard to fit it in with all those commercial games.  But yeah thanks a lot, It was really cool to see an rpg maker/game maker game in On The Spot right next to that Star Wars game!

All that's left now is for Charles Barkley himself to comment on the game. It's only a matter of time with exposure like this.

Haha you know, I do wish that he was able to show Barkley's battle system.  In my opinion it's more fun than Lost Odyssey's from the way it looks!  But whatever getting featured is good enough :)

some guy earlier in the thread had this problem. it was an ac3.exe audio problem. it's two pages back or something but he entered something in start>run and it fixed it.
Yeah I didn't understand this process so I was hoping you or somone else could post up like a step by step jump off because I also have this problem and I'm just trying to slam.

Them putting up the stupid Star Wars trailer with the bad music choice next to Barkley was a mistake... Lucas Arts will be complaining. Hopefully ESPN will do a segment on Charles Barkley and the game. :)

I don't mean to flood the topic like a chatroom but... I've already reached to the stars and have many autographs from such folks as Nicolas Cage, Billy Cosby, Hayden Pantiere, and Mega64. Gamespot are great people, I legitimately want them. If it's too much trouble or an inconvenience, I understand.

I figured out how to fix it.  Go to command prompt and type "regsvr32 /u ac3audio.ax".
basically look up the name of the exe that is causing the problem on google. it's ac3.exe or something like that, you'll see the name when it errors and it shows detailed information. people had problems with this in other games apparently so it's some kind of strange issue.

Not sure what all my problems are, and if a solution has been posted. I have really looked through tons of pages looking for it.
So anyways my game loads up but besides not having music most of everything is black. I can see some things like Barkleys toilet and bath in his hous and a light post or so out side but the majority of the sprites are missing. The only thing I can see on the balcony is some of the balcony and Gus standing there. Everything else is black. Is this meant to be??

Preciate the help. Ive just found out about this game today and the trailer and word of mouth has gotten me excited.

download the newest version, it's download link 1. this is an issue some people had.

alternatively download the fix:

http://www.tomatoland.org/drdougbeach/BarkleyV108.zip

put the three files where the old exe is (barkley420). then run the new exe (barkleyv108).

Hmm, Ryan Davis likes being famous. Send an email to [email protected] and tell him how awesome he is and then give him your address. You'll probably get something insane in the mail.

Hey aaron, it's really cool gamespot featured barkley.  But do you think there will be a day where gamespot and or other game journalist magazines and sites will open its doors and feature games from the untainted likes of indie devs?  Cause honestly there are some really cool indie games out there that people don't really even get to know of, besides the niche where it stands on.

For example:

www.perfectrun.net

and this game called Banana Nababa who has attracted quite a cult following

Thanks to downloadable games on consoles I think many people are becoming aware that just because a game wasn't made by EA, Sega, Ubisoft, or some other huge company, doesn't mean that it's not worth playing. I think the biggest problem people face when it comes to finding games from indie developers is figuring out what's actually good. For every game that's awesome there are a dozen that are horrific (Though some might argue that the same goes for retail games, but that's another discussion). I won't say that we as a site are great about getting the word out, but we do host a fair amount of mods and free games, and we're encouraged to feature them when we're so inclined on the staff soapbox page. I know one of our guys, Lark, wrote a whole editorial on his favorite indie games of last year and I devoted an entire hour-long video to Beggar Prince, the Genesis game that got released last year. The short version: I think coverage is improving, but could still get better.

Haha you're right.  Derek Yu actually wrote an article on barkley, which is cool.  Also he's actually making fan art which is ridiculous.  I'm a fan of his artwork and I can't wait to see what he does.

Definitely Aaron,  especially with consoles today featuring download-able contents (WiiWare, PSN, XBL) maybe just maybe we can see commercial games and indie games side by side.  Though I do agree with you that the amount of finely tuned indie games out there is scarce.  Most are just terrible, some are never completed, and surely there are plenty of which that you could consider as gems.   This website especially through the years, has had users who are very talented coders.  Though with our mainsite being down for a while now user activity as slowed down.
