I mean not to argue the hyperbole point, only a pedant would do that, but yeah that's a game that was better and more widely recieved.

yeah, cave story's huge. it's kind of the SHINING PINNACLE of indie games. i haven't played that many indie games but i think cave story is probably one of the best. but yeah thanks for all the great things you guys are saying about the game. i genuinely appreciate it! i think barkley is a pretty good and funny game and i'm glad there are people out there who like it!

I like that post about Barkley being a hacked rom. I don't know why so many people say Barkley is RPG Maker or a rom or whatever. I think it's pretty clearly Game Maker. By the way, this is the feedback we got from the IGF:

Sure, this may be an RPG Maker game, but clever use of the engine for Quick Time Events,
and amazing writing make this a truly compelling, innovative game.

i mentioned this to chef or someone else but i really think that even ex post facto they should have emailed IGF and mentioned one of their judges thought a game that had nothing to do with RM was an RM game and thus not only gave it a completely useless crticism but possibly took off technical points for it. who knows how many other games got shit like that?

yeah, i just sent the chairman an email about it, but i feel really gross because i'm definitely coming across as some curmudgeon who's mad that i didn't win. that's kind of why i never sent anything in the first place, because there's really no way you can bring this up without looking like some douche who's complaining about their score.

this is the situation where getting someone else to do it and look like an innocent correction is a sound strategy.

I thought it would be pretty impossible to even get a complaint like that noticed. I think I'm getting the impression that if they are as lazy about the whole thing just to go "hmm looks like an rpg maker game." *scribbles that down* "Good work, boys.", then would they even bother reading complaints? And if they were read etc, then would anything ever happen?

admittedly though if you guys had put up a website none of this confusion would have happened. I've seen way more people refer to Barkley as goon made, rm, or rom hack than what it actually was because there's no website or great source for info other than this topic.
