Go Pats.
This is the Patriots' game. They're the only team to go 18-0 in NFL history, while breaking like every other record along the way. To break the momentum of the team is going to be tough, especially with so many veteran NFL players on the team like Seau, Vrable and Maroney and of course Belichick running the show. Doesn't hurt to have the potential best quarterback of all time on your team either, or the record setting tangent that he and Moss have put together.
I gave Green Bay a better chance of beating the Patriots. The style to beat them this year is to play extremely offensively, BULLY receivers (especially on the inside routes, Welker is ALWAYS waiting) while at least maintaining a decent defense. Just never letting up is the trick to me though, put the same pressure on them that they put on you. I say Green Bay for that because Favre's entire style is based around his go big or go home playing attitude, which means he either makes enormous plays or breaks them. It doesn't mean they would have won, but it would have given them a chance, which in my opinion is all a team has anymore against them. Unfortunately for Favre, his continually dangerous plays tend to catch up with him, and they did against the Giants.
Pats beat the Cowboys earlier this season, and I pictured more of the same if they went to the Superbowl but given they lost that Giants game (The Giants did not win that game, the Cowboys lost it by absolutely bombing in the clutch repeatedly and Romo eventually losing composure) that won't be happening anyways.
Now the Giants, they are not an easy team for New England. Manning is finally starting to show he's learned the composure that his brother has, and showed that he's gotten over his troubles of playing in bad conditions. This team got awfully tough this season, and suddenly has been blasting through the playoffs on what almost seems like Plaxico Burress will. They showed a decent running game against the Packers, and they were able to deliver in the clutch (Well, not Tyne but the team was, and he did in the end I guess. That weather was also windy as hell). They have pass protection capable of putting heat on players like Moss, and their defense has only looked better and better as the season's progressed. Umenyiora in particular put up some big plays last night.
I think the Giants will start strong, but fade quickly. This is the Superbowl, emotions will be high and adrenaline will be pumping from the start, and I think that will play against them. You can't ignore the pressure that's going to be on Eli, especially given that Peyton did not make the Superbowl and that's going to get to him. This is just another ride for Brady who has been here before, and seen victory 3 times doing it. Giants start winning early, maybe even get a 2-TD lead perhaps, and it's around then that the extremely underrated defensive line of the Patriots will start heating it up. Faced with the pressure of a stalwart team such as NE, the Giants will start buckling under the pressure of the biggest game of the season and composure will not maintain in the way we've seen it do so as of late for them. As the Giants begin to let up pressure just a bit, they begin allowing turnovers they shouldn't have, costing clutch plays and allowing the Pat offense to start doing what it does best. They seal the deal in the second half, as the Patriots almost always do.
This one's over in the third, 28-17 Patriots.
