Hey guys im not exactly sure if this belongs here but I'm curious about recording what is on the television. The intention of what I want to do is record what is on the television, and have it to be transported to my computer so that i can turn it into a video that i can edit etc. I know i need to purchase a "video capture device" or what not, but i need some help on this whole thing. Is there any easy way to record whats on the tv? Can anyone guide me through the basics of doing it? Thanks.

There are ways of connecting your TV to your PC and letting your PC output the TV images etc. I know it's possible because my uncle did it a long time ago but I couldn't tell you exactly how to do it. It's probably as simple as a bit of software and a cable though. After that all you'd need to do is use a piece of screen capture software like Camtasia studio.

I have a DVD recorder that can record directly from the TV so if you have one of those lying around you could record the TV direct to DVD, plug the DVD into your PC and rip it. Or maybe if you have a video camera that plugs directly into the TV it might be possible to record from there.

This is all JUST GUESSES really but I hope it helps a little bit or maybe points you in the right direction for google searches or whatever.
