i found (actually found on the side of the road) an indigo g3 imac (model number m5521).

i plugged it in and turned it on, absolutely nothing happened at all. i figure something is probably fairly wrong with it, but what would it most likely be?

just to clarify, it didn't make any sound, nothing lit up, nothing happened at all. i tried changing the powercord but still nothing.

also there were some... smoke marks on the top of the thing. i've looked inside though and i can't see any signs of fire damage (you'd think with smoke there'd be... fire) so idk this could be dirt or something.

any help is appreciated!

I guess the PSU might be dead. There are plenty of things that could be wrong with it.

i've been looking up common problems for this model and it looks like something on the monitor frequently overheats, melts and shorts.

a quick fix is to unplug the monitor but i have no idea what all these wacky mac cables are!
it looks like the videocard is built into the back of the screen?

This is called the flyback relay transformer! or something if I remember correctly, a pretty common problem. But this should still result in a chime, click, something. Try holding down the interrupt and/or reset button in the port bay on the side, then powering it on. If it chimes, then just shuts off, its the flyback thingy transformer, which is like $60 to replace (and $60 can buy a new G3 iMac).
