Okay so heres my situation, I currently have Window Vista Business 32 bit. I cannot open any folder with out my Explorer crashing and me having to manually start explorer again. I think it was some thing to do with a Trojan that's currently embedded itself in the System 32 files. I was wondering if a reinstall of the OS would fix that. I was also wondering if I can reinstall the OS with out loosing the 205 GB of data and games that on my HD (no partitions at all).

My (basic) Specs:

Nvidia 8800 GTS
AMD FX-62 2.8 Dual Core
4GB Corsair ram PC6400 800MHz

I really want to got the 64 bit version to get full access to my 4GB of ram. I was wondering if if that potentially could cause a problem..... beside compatibility. :fogetshrug:.

You can reinstall Vista without deleting your personal files, just choose not to format during the install.

And compatibility is the ONLY reason 64 bit vista has problems.

You'd still have all your data (if you don't format), but a lot of your programs will no longer work, and you'll have to reinstall them or find 64 bit versions of them.

Most all of them, honestly. And you'll have to install the 64 bit versions.

For what it's worth, I recommend staying with 32 bit for now. Your 3.5 GB of ram is more than enough, 64 bit just needs more time.
