Valve just shot themselves in the foot.
I don't know how much the rest of you know about FPS culture (I'm an expert), but honor and shame are huge parts of it. It's not like it is in MMORPGs where you can become successful by being an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. If you screw someone over in an FPS, you bring shame to yourself, and the only way to get rid of that shame is repentance.
What this means is the FPS public, after hearing about this, is not going to want to purchase Team Fortress 2, nor will they purchase any of Valve's games. This is HUGE. You can laugh all you want, but Valve has alienated an entire market with this move.
Valve, publicly apologize and remove Jarate from TF2 or you can kiss your business goodbye. i demand
That’s right, you have the young gaming with the old(er), white people gaming with black people, men and women, Asian countries gaming with the EU, North Americans gaming with South Americans. Much like world sporting events like the Wolrd Cup, or the Olympics will bring together different nations in friendly competition, (note the recent Asian Cup; Iraq vs. Saudi Arabia, no violence there) we come together. The differences being, we are not divided by our nationalities and we do it 24-7, and on a personal level.
We are a community without borders and without colours, the spirit and diversity of the gaming community is one that should be looked up to, a spirit and diversity other groups should strive toward.
