Short circuiting them and so working like sappers would be fun. Could be unbalancing though, jarate seems very useful just as it is and engies have enough trouble already.

They should just redo engineer entirely, it's just tedious turtling with no unique gameplay whatsoever. In fact there hardly is ANY gameplay aside from setting yourself behind a sentry and duct taping your mouse1 button down.

With that said I really wouldn't mind seeing jarate explode all their buildings in one hit.

Hmm. I don't like it that whenever you're cloaked as a Spy it does the backstab animation whenever you're behind and enemy, and those Razorback Shields hurt. Are there variations of regular weapons now? I saw that someone found a 'Super SMG'. Also does the Cloak and Dagger make the Spy invincible as soon as they do the cloak and dagger thing? Cause I was burning one Spy with the flamer and I held the stream while he was dying and noticed that he ran into me cloaked but wasn't catching fire.

Looks like Valve caved in and decided to add milestones to the Sniper and Spy classes; thus allowing people to either get the unlocks randomly, or to unlock them by getting achievements.

the milestones for spy and sniper are also a lot easier to get this time around, i got all the sniper weapons (random drop and two milestones) from playing like 2-3 hours last night.

Doesn't it sort of completely undermine both systems? I don't know.. I guess it works in that if you want an item you can really work towards it, but it just seems like the whole thing is a sort of.. mishmash of failure.

Random drops are bad and Valve should feel bad.

Yes, it's very sloppy. Kind of unlike them, have they lost a lot of good people lately? Valve has been acting... Strange lately.

Yeah, Valve has seemed to have totally lost the plot with the success of hl2/steam. They just don't seem to know how to make a good game that's longer than 3 or 4 hours anymore, and all their multiplayer content is coming out half finished and sloppy. But the thing is because of the stupid raving fanbase they can release ANYTHING and they know it will be popular and get more sales.

Ugh, this really bothered me about the Nintendo presentation. It just seems like a lot of developers and industry leaders are getting caught up in SALES and the quality of the products themselves have suffered. Sales are up? We must be doing well! And yeah, I mean, as a business model that is really great and will obviously always have its place, I just wish people were turning their focus back to making great games and having games sell largely through that merit. My first Valve game was L4D, although I also now own a few others. I've heard good things and they seem to care about their games, which is why releasing L4D2 only a year later comes off as a bit of a surprise.

edit ahaha thought this was the E3 thread anyways

Even that rabid fanbase is dwindling, or at least turning into a grudging fanbase.

If they think they have a free pass to do whatever they please; they might be in for a rude awakening.

i seriously doubt a small group of bitchy fans on the forums will negatively impact l4d's horrendously huge sales

That’s right, you have the young gaming with the old(er), white people gaming with black people, men and women, Asian countries gaming with the EU, North Americans gaming with South Americans. Much like world sporting events like the Wolrd Cup, or the Olympics will bring together different nations in friendly competition, (note the recent Asian Cup; Iraq vs. Saudi Arabia, no violence there) we come together. The differences being, we are not divided by our nationalities and we do it 24-7, and on a personal level.

We are a community without borders and without colours, the spirit and diversity of the gaming community is one that should be looked up to, a spirit and diversity other groups should strive toward.

I seriously doubted Valve would resort to cash grab shovelware, but here we are.

There's a small minority of people who DIDN'T like L4D, even if it was on the assumption it would be continually supported (and the map SDK will probably push some more life into it). I think you are being a little haughty here.

I'm sorry, but what does this have to do with anything I've said?
