ok i got my laptop so its time to make a meaningful topic this time!

This is an interusting game, it is supposed to be an on the rails RPG with a ton of hack n slash thrown in for good measure. Your main character as a dragon quest tradition is a nameless hero on a quest to unravel the mystery of the monster's strange appearences and the Queen's behavior and why she hides under a mask! You will hack and slash your way never before seen in a dragon quest game which seems extremely fun and hopefully will not be gimmicky. Although i do not see how moving freely through a single town will work while the game is clearly on the rails.

Killing slimes is always fun as hell and will for sure never bore for hard core DQ fans

party members get their ownn equips including weapons but they cannot melee, they use magic instead which i dont get...

You can freeroam the town with just the wiimote which seems like a bit of a last minute thing

Graphics are very impressive on the wii and the boss fights promise to be awsome

This game includes:
-On the rails rpg action
-a single town where you can free roam and choose your next on the rails path
-familiar and new monsters galore
-stunning graphics for a wii game
-a pretty good story
-about an 10 hour game, but with a couple of sidequests thrown in to make it longer
-monsters can come in specific patterns providing some strategy

dw3, dq8, and dqm:joker are the only dq games i have

This game got below average reviews. The hit detection is supposedly pretty bad, which I would have guessed. I don't understand the point of this game...Why would the DQ franchise mess with a perfect formula?

Well, the graphics caught my eye, very nice. DQ8 was awesome, but for godness sakes, please remove those annoying battle messages, (hero got hit! hero took 5 damage! hero is poisoned!) and the game will win me over.

Dragon Warrior 7 was the best, followed by 8. This one looks like terrible garbage.

back on topic, why would you hate this? i mean its not a bad thing if an awsome series tries somthing diffrent. I played the Demo at Gamestop the other day when i was picking up a copy of elder scrolls oblivion and i was suprised to see how awsomely fun it was! It is very responsive and there is alot of challange at some times. This game does involve alot of arm swiping, so you might wanna take intermissions in between levels because those who get tired easily will get arm sores.

So much old-school hate! I'd rather play DQ8 than the "modern" RPGs like Mass Effect or FF12 or whatever. Seriously, in order to appeal to the average consumer, they are forcing RPGs away from their roots. I'd bet FF13 is going to have action-heavy elements with mild RPG elements thrown in. When a game like DQ8 or Lost Odyessy comes out, people rail on it for being too "traditional" or "boring", which basically means it's too much of an RPG and not enough an action game.

DW3 was the best classic in my opinion

Edit: Lost oddesy is like an old rpg as well and that game is fuggin a-m-a-z-i-n-g >=D

On topic: I stand by "There will never be a good Dragon Quest spinoff" comment I made several years ago. DQRS and DQM on the DS came CLOSE but still suffered from the same problem every DQ spinoff has... they're totally arbitrary, pointless, and repetitive

I can argue with the fact that dragon quest monsters joker is probably the best spinoff out there and is 2x better that rocket slime, which was moderately well.....it was too much of a zelda ripoff in my opinion. Joker was one of those games that got it right, no longer were you limited to monsters doing a random attack. Nay, you could tell them what to do finally which was a huge improvement in my book. DQM:J was however a pokemon ripoff which majorly turned me off. I really don't see why it was e-10 either >.<

Rocket Slime was fun
